normally i totally forget what i did but this was just last month so:
- ran in our local marathon
- went to an italian restaurant with family and ate piles of food
- went home, ate cake & drank beer
- fucked about with my birthday present (a new turntable)

Visit to a safari park, where I spent 90 minutes petting and feeding some lemurs, followed by a steak dinner and a movie. I fear I may never have a better birthday.

i had friends over and we got dinner at a restaurant and then came home, got drunk, and watched Barbarella

3rd of January birthday is a right bastard for doing anything but sitting at home while everybody's away / recovering.

got something with eel in it from a Japanese takeaway which I think was quite disappointing. it was a Tuesday or something so I held it over until the weekend and went to see Floating Points then later I read passages from the old testament to ppl while really smashed

i bought a copy of the phenomenology of spirit once on the street and would read passages to people prefaced by "do you know..." throughout the night, as the people i was with got progressively more drunk. so i would say like, "did you know that everything depends on grasping and expressing the ultimate truth not as Substance but as Subject as well?" this wasn't on my birthday

was 30 so took a week off work. visited parents, went out for dinner a few times with some friends during the week, spent some money on clothes and stuff, then had a party in a little pub that sells nice beer.

then was sick for about 3 months after with chronic illness worsened by boozing.

worth the tradeoff.

my girlfriend planned a big surprise party for me, but almost all of the invitees were from out of town, and weather got really really bad, so nobody made it. she and i just wound up down the street at a friends place for pizza and beer. it was a good night.

rented space in the basement of a local rib place and hosted a dinner for 30 ppl

Turned 40 a week before Christmas - not the best time for a big gathering so went out for dinner at a tapas bar with my husband and my parents.

I went to see 7 Seconds. On my own :( But it was a Monday, and I'd just got back from a trip to Amsterdam for my wife's 40th (our birthdays are 4 days apart)

planned to do not much on a Monday night, kept it under wraps at work, went to a Fringe Festival event showing weird short films - old training shorts, bizarre ads, anime extracts, odd music videos - with a local friend in a lesbian bar near my house. literally as I stepped out to go home my pocket buzzed with an "are you out tonight?" txt. shrugged, strolled back down the road and spent another three hours or so drinking with some young ppl for one girl's birthday. around midnight the pub started a bbq in the courtyard, giving away sausages in bread. when we folded the celebratory girl hung back to do a "you should come with me." got home around 4 iirc. (she didn't know it was my birthday.)

My last birthday was on Thanksgiving and kind of a bust. My parents were visiting. First we were rushed through a sub-par dinner at a restaurant that should have been much better, then we ended up at a super depressing hotel bar where none of us actually wanted to be but we felt like we had to stick around because it was my birthday and my parents were visiting. Next year should be better, although maybe I'm just too old to really celebrate my birthday anymore.

Also extra dose of depressing because it was my 40th and I was feeling blue about it and had specifically asked to do something special.

Had some friends over, watched soccer, went to a bar, accidentally got blackout drunk for the first time in years and felt stupid about it after the fact, but I got home safe thanks to the kindness of loved ones.

it was my birthday yesterday. i went back and forth between lazing around my house/playing video games/working on music and going out on walks/eating outside/drinking outside, because it was beautiful out.

Southern Culture on the Skids in the historic, and allegedly structurally unique, 1933 Silver Dome Ballroom in Neillsville, Wisconsin. Couldn't have been better!

- exhausted and aching and happy after a long weekend spent running, cycling & hiking around the homeplace. spent bday in rented seashore accommodation with a dozen good friends, one ms mac and several good meals. fully charged atm.

same birthday tradition as every year, invite friends over, do field trip to crazy beer store, everybody buys some interesting stuff, go back to house and drink it, end night as the last man standing usually watching some insane fucked up movie until i crash on the couch around dawn.

didnt give myself a mohawk this year so that was a step in the right direction prob

for your 45th you should give yourself a Keith Flint red-and-blue reverse mohawk

i was thinking of just letting my kid do whatever he wants to my hair with a clippers as a new birthday tradition. can a 7 month old operate clippers?

30th birthday. drank a bottle of whisky and stumbled around the street outside my apartment in my underwear. better than most.

Last one was my 58th. I don't remember what I did. Furthermore I don't want to remember.

I was treated to tacos by my roommate. It was a happy coincidence, though, he didn't know it was my birthday.

took 3 days off work. had birthday dinnner with family the night before. For my actual birthday I planned a mini "birthday tour" with mr Veg. first we went to Fremont Diner in Sonoma for chicken and waffles breakfast. then we drove to Dillon Beach (near Petaluma) and hung out there for a couple of hours walking off the chicken and waffles, poking around the tide pools and chilling on the beach. and then we went to the Petaluma coffee roasters for nice coffee before we drove back home.

It was a cool day! Except I forgot to print out directions to all the places we went and I spent most of the time staring at my google maps app and then when cell phone reception kicked the bucket frantically studying the Thomas Guide, so I didn't get to enjoy the road-tripping part of it as much as I could have. i'm usually really prepared, kinda kicking myself for falling down on the navigator-job :(

had a double scorpio birthday party w/one of my best friends whose birthday is 2 days before mine. party was at a tiki bar, so various friends kept buying scorpion bowls for us. ILXor Milton Parker attended and gave me an awesome gift about corporate communication styles. A guy I kinda have/had a crush on came and we talked for about an hour but I forget what we talked about. Went home alone but it was fun and the hangover next day wasn't that bad, considering how much I'd had to drink.
