Where do you stand on stem cell research and Bush's attempts to block it?

Someone should market a trendy malt beverage based on stem cells.

Religion will suffocate us if we let it.

all of this hope for stem cells and yet there has never been any positive results from the trials. researchers don't know how to turn them on to turn them into neruons or oocytes or basophils, etc...i know cr is desperate but bush's plan only covers government research it is still legal for private companies to proceed with this sort of research. of course the hammer will fall once some idiot tries to clone a person and ruins it for everyone.

isnt there a scientist in italy who claims he could clone a human?
i thought i caught the end of something about that not long ago on tv.

donna (donna), Monday, 30 September 2002 01:14 (twenty-three years ago)

There is indeed such a scientist - he says not only that he could, but that he will, soon. I think he is probably overly optimistic, given how difficult it was to clone a sheep, and that has only been partially successful. I have heard leading experts suggest that we are still years from this technology.

i am still unconvinced that sheep were cloned, for amusing reasons given long ago

mark s (mark s), Monday, 30 September 2002 16:41 (twenty-three years ago)

Mark, I don't remember the reasons. It would amuse me if on of the reasons was "Dolly #2 is much cuter than Dolly #1".
