Based on a true story! Besides, Somali pirate pretty much requires adherence to certain archetypes.

Really? To me this is a prime example of a trailer that gives away way too much. In fact, it tells the whole story of the film, apart from presumably the 'happy end' (some die, Hanks lives). The End.

He's always been really bad at accents, imo.

He did a pretty good Krakozhian accent.

Could be alright, very Greengrassy subject matter.

Saw a preview last weekend, thought it was great. Started a thread not having seen this one.

Saw this last night. Greengrass playing to his strengths of action, empathy, and zero magic.

I can see where this review's coming from, but I'd pick Greengrass telling this story over Oliver Stone any day. Also went into it not remembering the basics of what had happened, and the unpredictability helped.

Does it address the suggestion that the kidnapping was largely his fault in the first place (a bunch of the crew sued him after the rescue, I think)? Looks interesting.

Good film. Unexpected shades of Dog Day Afternoon on a lifeboat during the last half.
