*sending HuGgLeZ across the web to PJ*

j.lu (j.lu), Sunday, 29 September 2002 22:51 (twenty-three years ago)

petra, you rock more than that rock we had to sing about in primary school which was so high we couldn't get over it & I am only just realising it was probably some form of religious metaphor!

Ess Kay (esskay), Sunday, 29 September 2002 22:54 (twenty-three years ago)

Hurrah for Petra Jane the Good! *hugs as well* Y'all rule, so fret not. We all have our moments. :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 29 September 2002 22:54 (twenty-three years ago)

you can always make yourself feel better with bionics

boxcubed (boxcubed), Sunday, 29 September 2002 23:01 (twenty-three years ago)

di smith (lucylurex), Sunday, 29 September 2002 23:40 (twenty-three years ago)

I think your first and second name go well together. If Petra Jane is your real name. And hope you feel fantastic tomorrow.

fractal (fractal), Sunday, 29 September 2002 23:43 (twenty-three years ago)

you have a cool name (but that's just one man's opinion of course)

Aaron A., Monday, 30 September 2002 00:02 (twenty-three years ago)

oh didn't see fractal above. 2 people's opinions. maybe more, even!!

Aaron A., Monday, 30 September 2002 00:03 (twenty-three years ago)

You rock, petra jane. And your name is indeed cool.

Rebecca (reb), Monday, 30 September 2002 01:23 (twenty-three years ago)

possesions are fleeting.

jess (dubplatestyle), Monday, 30 September 2002 01:30 (twenty-three years ago)

I've always thought you were really cool, Petra Jane.

Nicole (Nicole), Monday, 30 September 2002 02:03 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh, I hope you feel better soon! :-( I'm sending warm fresh-baked-cookie thoughts.

lyra (lyra), Monday, 30 September 2002 02:08 (twenty-three years ago)

You're the coolest, Petra. And I mean that with as much sincerity as I can muster.

Andrew (enneff), Monday, 30 September 2002 03:58 (twenty-three years ago)

I third that, "Petra Jane" is awesome. And so are you.

Justyn Dillingham (Justyn Dillingham), Monday, 30 September 2002 04:03 (twenty-three years ago)

petra jane Kaosphere Orchestra ahoy from the south

ducklingmonster, Monday, 30 September 2002 05:00 (twenty-three years ago)

petra jane (petra jane), Monday, 30 September 2002 06:46 (twenty-three years ago)

Are you still up for marrying me? I am.

Graham (graham), Monday, 30 September 2002 16:30 (twenty-three years ago)

Coolest new webpage 2002:

Jeff W (Jeff W), Monday, 30 September 2002 16:41 (twenty-three years ago)

Is the preponderance of comments about Petra rocking because of a pun on the Latin derivation of that name? Not that I am arguing against the proposition, even a bit.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 30 September 2002 18:41 (twenty-three years ago)

Are you still up for marrying me? I am.

Oh yes, Graham! But only if it can be a shotgun wedding. The bridal march can be 'Duelling Banjos' - romantic, don't you think?

petra jane (petra jane), Monday, 30 September 2002 19:44 (twenty-three years ago)

petra, you are funny. and if you think you're a bad person you don't have to think that forever anyway, that's the nice thing about being a person, you can change.

Maria (Maria), Monday, 30 September 2002 19:56 (twenty-three years ago)

Petra is neat/She has nice feet/She walks down the street/To the Bronski Beat

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 30 September 2002 20:36 (twenty-three years ago)

Bronksi Beat is not nice, Dang. Now go hang your head in shame...

Nicole (Nicole), Monday, 30 September 2002 23:49 (twenty-three years ago)

Bronski Beat may not be nice per se but they're still good. *flees Nicole's wrath*

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 1 October 2002 00:23 (twenty-three years ago)

*flees Nicole's wrath*

you mean, *run away run away run away run away run awayyyyyyyy*

di smith (lucylurex), Tuesday, 1 October 2002 00:28 (twenty-three years ago)

Personally, I'm not that smart, Martin; when I mentioned rock I was thinking more of the band photos and my jealousy towards the photographed Converse Allstars, since mine are falling apart and I haven't found a new pair I like so much. But Greek and not Latin, surely? petra/petros vs saxum etc.

Greek word of the moment (thank you copy of Liddell and Scott that I acquired for free from somewhere, I feel kind of bad about that): petro-kulistes, a roller of rocks, as used by Strabo, apparently. That last e is an eta and I am too lazy to find the appropriate e-accent html entity.

Rebecca (reb), Tuesday, 1 October 2002 00:30 (twenty-three years ago)

Di shows wisdom and humor, unsurprisingly, and I bow to her. *does so*

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 1 October 2002 00:52 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh, hang on, I forgot. I've got to marry Rebecca first.

Graham (graham), Tuesday, 1 October 2002 11:17 (twenty-three years ago)

I only know that bit of word derivation because people occasionally point out (one for the Use Other Facts thread) that Jesus was making a pun when he said that Peter was the rock on which his church would be built. I probably have the languages mixed up.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 1 October 2002 16:25 (twenty-three years ago)

five years pass...

Please

Ned Trifle II, Tuesday, 16 October 2007 19:55 (seventeen years ago)

Tuomas, Tuesday, 16 October 2007 20:09 (seventeen years ago)

LOL

Jon Lewis, Tuesday, 16 October 2007 22:54 (seventeen years ago)

I heard from someone who was at MTL Animation Fest that it's quite a bit better than the graphic novel(s).

(Which is no diss on Satrapi as iirc she co-directed the film too).

Jon Lewis, Tuesday, 16 October 2007 22:55 (seventeen years ago)

They're showing it here in cinema, I assume it should reach American screens too at some point, if it already hasn't.

Tuomas, Wednesday, 17 October 2007 12:08 (seventeen years ago)

I'm pumped for Persepolis.

KitCat, Wednesday, 17 October 2007 15:56 (seventeen years ago)

KitCat, Wednesday, 17 October 2007 17:48 (seventeen years ago)
