new playstation -vs- new xbox

kids keep saying xbox. but playstation is also a swift blu-ray player, no? man, going into that dopey fye store and seeing a zillion blu-ray movies at five bucks a pop...kinda tempting. wait, is new xbox blu-ray too? i don't care about any of the online cloudy xbox stuff. what are you guys getting?

we've had the wii for a long time and i thought the whole balance board/active part of wii was cool for the kids, but i can't say i ever loved any of the wii games we got. wait, does an xbox do netflix?

wii has a LOT of lame games. wouldn't even bother with the new wii. whatever its called.

They both will have blu-ray. I'm sure I'll get them both eventually, but I'll get the xbone first because that's how my friends play multiplayer.

PS4 is cheaper, also Microsoft are massive massive jerks.

so if you didn't pre-order one of these does that mean every store in the world will be sold out of them on the first day? i mean, will there be a million more for sale a week later.

The site I edit has a games section and so I read a lot of stuff about this forthcoming console war, and it seems like the conclusion from many is that PS4 is the way to go this time.

I dunno if that just means they won the marketing battle but Xbox seemed a confused launch.

Something about the look and feel of the PS3 and its interface/menus bothers me incredibly, way prefer the 360, so I'm still a bit conflicted.

No need to get one at launch when there will inevitably be some sort of holiday deal a month later.

My br0ther got v mad at me on the phone the other night for me saying I thought his investing in Nintendo stock is a really bad idea right now but he seems to be pretty certain in his head that they are making better decisions than ppl give them credit for and will do well, as in better than Sony, this generation.

He was telling me about some article that said Sony('s gaming division) has lost so much money during the ps3 vita generation that it had pretty much completely negated their gains from the era of ps2 dominance and that their habit of taking a loss on their hardware is becoming unsustainable. I have a feeling all these articles are written by nerd fanboy ppl but who knows maybe there's some truth to it . It was on destructoid 'Sony flirting with death' or something I'd post the url if I wasn't on mobile

if there's one thing I hear consistently from non-shady personal finance experts it's that you shouldn't invest in individual securities at all, ever, so you're probably right regardless.

I agree with that but I am just a certain kind of risk adverse I figured xp, wondering if anyone knows what's really going on with these companies atm though is why I brought it up

oh you can talk about whatever you want here. i just wondered what the odds were of getting one of these the day they came out if you didn't pre-order one. i figured that stores would get more in before xmas. my kid wanted to know. all the stores are sold out of pre-orders for the first day. at least as far as i can tell.
