Does Robert De Niro hate kicking around the house this much?

Appalachia, rather.

I almost made this a rolling "Robert De Niro, Why Are You Doing This?" thread but felt John Travolta's efforts deserved equal billing.

according to wikipedia and/or imdb, future De Niro projects include a Luc Besson movie about a mobster witness protection family in France, a Vegas bachelor party movie with Michael Douglas, Kevin Kline and Morgan Freeman, that David O Russell thing, a movie where Raging Bull boxes Rocky, an action movie with John Cusack, a Scorsese film where he plays against Pacino's Jimmy Hoffa, and a movie where he's a boxing coach and Usher is Sugar Ray Leonard. also something with Christoph Waltz called Candy Store.

"It's thrilling, imaginative, unexpected and dominated by two extraordinary characters on a collision course"
— Paul Breuls, Corsan's Chief Executive Officer, when asked about the film.[8]

Christoph Waltz, last seen training Jamie Foxx in the ways of bounty hunting in Django Unchained, is joining the cast of Stephen Gaghan’s action thriller Candy Store.

Good Universe and Lionsgate are behind the movie project, which so far has attracted a cast that includes Jason Clarke, Robert De Niro and Omar Sy.

Lionsgate will distribute in North America. Good Universe is handling international sales and presenting the film as part of their slate in Cannes.

The story is set in the criminal underworld of Brooklyn and follows a former operative who discovers the global organization he fought is now in his backyard.

He teams up with a disgraced local cop (De Niro) to investigate, running afoul of an international sex trade entrepreneur (Sy), a Cold War consigliere posing as a typical American suburbanite (Waltz), and a beautiful girl, uncovering a plan to detonate a nuclear bomb in Manhattan.

Please change that to "...an international sex trade entrepreneur (Psy)"

Also, the Vegas movie is probably Stand Up Guys 2 and Viagra jokes, but the potential...

lols lane (Eazy), Saturday, 29 June 2013 01:39 (twelve years ago)

Never thought Travolta would top his Pelham 1-2-3 haircut.

This is like the mash-up sequel to "First Blood" and "The Deer Hunter" and "Battlefield Earth" we never wanted.

three months pass...

Jon Turteltaub told me that getting to say, "Mr. De Niro, in this scene a man will be wiggling his penis in your face" is one of the highlights of his career.

three weeks pass...

finding this weirdly watchable. aside from two short scenes involving milo ventimiglia, its just travolta and deniro shooting the shit and then deniro and travolta trying to torture each other. i'm not even finding travolta's accent as distracting as i'd thought. it's like Grumpy Old Men: Bloodsport.

da croupier, Monday, 16 December 2013 08:21 (twelve years ago)

modest enthusiasm retracted - ending is laaaaaaame

da croupier, Monday, 16 December 2013 08:33 (twelve years ago)

SPOILERS OF DISAPPOINTMENT: no one willing to watch a movie where travolta takes an arrow to the mouth will want that movie to end with hugs.
