Ralph Yarborough - the only southern Senator to vote for the Civil Rights Act and Voting Rights Act, I still don't completely understand how anyone as liberal as he was got elected in Jim Crow Texas.

lol it is a lay-up question and the easy cop-out is to say "I appreciate <x> because of their ability to <do something> in the face of <some situation>" or give a specific example with the caveat that you don't agree with all of their actions

Deng Xiaoping. I'm not sure if I admire him, because I know next to nothing about him. But I admire his results and the effects his choices had on other CPs in the region. This post is vmic, isn't it.

Anacostia Aerodrome (El Tomboto), Friday, 30 September 2016 01:17 (nine years ago)

He's funny, he's adorable, he's sweet, he's awkward, he's beautiful, he's caring, he's awesome.

He's perfect.

I didn't say a name but he popped into your head, didn't he?

I genuinely can't think of anyone who isn't appalling on some level. Obama at least combines being appalling with being quite likeable.

Josip Broz Tito - just for the famous defiant death threat note he sent to Stalin, not many got away with telling Soso to watch his back and it must have made an impression because he kept it in his drawer along with Bhukarin's last plea for clemency - till the death.
