...OCKEY IS THE BEST

Sir Lord Baltimora (Myonga Vön Bontee), Sunday, 7 July 2013 15:29 (eleven years ago) link

that money is hyonotic

The Dallas Stars released a statement on Sunday saying the club did not condone comments made on Tyler Seguin's Twitter account over the weekend. A message from his Twitter account, @tylerseguin92, appeared on Saturday night that read, "Only steers and queers in Texas, and I'm not a cow."

mookieproof, Sunday, 7 July 2013 22:57 (eleven years ago) link

lotta coke rumors abt that guy

call all destroyer, Sunday, 7 July 2013 23:21 (eleven years ago) link

for the new thread:

http://nbcprohockeytalk.files.wordpress.com/2013/07/can_tsun.jpg

also jmod did you happen to notice that the devils signed 30-year-old ryane clowe to a 5-year, $24.25m deal? dude had three goals this year.

mookieproof, Tuesday, 9 July 2013 00:06 (eleven years ago) link

I did not but that makes 100% sense.

also I have said it elsewhere but goalies have to be the most overvalued commodity in sports right now. In what universe does dropping 2M [even for one year...] on Khabibulin make sense (vs. minor league minimum; or 1m on, like someone under 50).

http://www.hhof.com/htmlInduct/ind13prolog.shtml

HHOF list to be revealed today; looking forward to Paul Kariya getting voted in, for some reason.

Shanny Chelios & a Neidermayer

hope roenick is weeping somewhere

mookieproof, Tuesday, 9 July 2013 20:57 (eleven years ago) link

that somewhere is from his modest pile of NBCSports money

also

"After playing the 1995-96 season with the Whalers, Shanahan was traded to the Detroit Red Wings two games into the 1996-97 season in exchange for Keith Primeau, Paul Coffey, and a first-round selection in the 1997 NHL Draft (Brian Glynn was packaged with Shanahan)."

jesush h christ those names

rip whalers

mookieproof, Tuesday, 9 July 2013 21:50 (eleven years ago) link

And that first round pick was...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikos_Tselios

Sort list of names picked after Tselios:

Scott Hannan
Brandan Morrow
Krisian Huselius
Roman Lyashenko
Maxim Afinogenov (lol)
Prtr Sykora
Ville Neiminen
Kyle Calder
Matt Cooke
Todd Fedoruk
Andrew Ference

Still remember being pissed they got rid of Coffey back then, even though he was old as hell.

This makes 8 from the 2002 Wings in the HOF: Bowman, Yzerman, Fetisov, Larionov, Robitaille, Hull, Shanny, Chelli

Datsyuk was, also Fedorov but he might be iffy (dunno why I feel that way).

EZ Snappin, Thursday, 11 July 2013 19:48 (eleven years ago) link

kind of a dick move to wait until after the draft/opening of free agency

i like it

mookieproof, Thursday, 11 July 2013 19:49 (eleven years ago) link

oh, i'm sure he'll be fine. he's 30 years old and still a v. good player, so it's weird

it'll be an international incident if/whenever he decides to play in the khl

mookieproof, Thursday, 11 July 2013 19:51 (eleven years ago) link

dude played almost three minutes more per game than any other forward in the league. that would be tough to replace even if he weren't their best player.

miss u bill magill

Federov should be a HOF, imo.

Also in the 11 days I've been in Iceland, so far I have been offered 6 pints just for being a fellow hockey fan. The sport is really growing there, according to the local kids.

Van Horn Street, Friday, 2 August 2013 22:13 (eleven years ago) link

We will all look so stupid when Jagr raises the cup with the Panthers in 2017.

mookieproof, Friday, 2 August 2013 22:17 (eleven years ago) link

Van Horn Street, Tuesday, 6 August 2013 00:22 (eleven years ago) link

that's nice i guess? i still feel it would make more sense were they in quebec or hamilton or scarborough or seattle (or fucking lethbridge or kamloops maybe)

god knows i love the red wings (apart from the 2008-2009 playoffs i mean) but it is disturbing to hear that subsidies towards a new arena are somehow going forward despite detroit's bankruptcy

mookieproof, Tuesday, 6 August 2013 01:21 (eleven years ago) link

5 years is a long time also who gives a fuck about the coyotes get off this thred

jimmy mod have you considered trying out for sochi

mookieproof, Tuesday, 6 August 2013 01:28 (eleven years ago) link

n although i had wondered abt trying out for the chinese team before I think I am too far removed generationally etc also I would wait until they have it in mongolia/tibet/outlying chinese territories so that I would be guaranteed to make it to the medal round

1.34 Billion people and they can't make a functional NBA center surely they need a goalie ffs

I don't mind government subsidies for stadium, but I do mind it not being public property afterwards. Owners holding citizens hostages like in Edmonton or Miami (in baseball) is seriously wrong. But then municipal politics is the gangrene of North America.

Van Horn Street, Tuesday, 6 August 2013 01:33 (eleven years ago) link

Bylsma already rumored to be going to Florida

dan m, Friday, 6 June 2014 21:16 (ten years ago) link

rutherford sounds like something of a caretaker. he's gonna have like four assistant gms, including bill guerin

i'm sure bylsma will be fine and much sought, but i feel kinda bad. he's the most successful coach in team history (albeit not as successful as he should have been) and he seemed like a nice guy

mookieproof, Friday, 6 June 2014 23:16 (ten years ago) link

yeah Bylsma is a class act.

Van Horn Street, Sunday, 8 June 2014 00:50 (ten years ago) link

down 3-0 in the first round

three game 7s, all on the road iirc

I'm always glad when a blueliner is drafted #1

Van Horn Street, Saturday, 28 June 2014 01:37 (ten years ago) link

i'm not really sorry to see neal go -- he won't put up those numbers without malkin and was evidently kind of a dick -- but they got no picks and no salary relief. tbf, i know absolutely nothing about the guys they got back, but i do wish i'd heard of them.

the whole gm/coaching search was awful and half-assed. the coach, who is saying all the right things and might still be great, was an obvious third (at least) choice who was compelled to take rick tocchet on his staff. the gm is an obvious caretaker with like half a dozen assistant gms fighting for priority.

i've heard that bill guerin (one of the agms) is super bright and beloved in the organization, but grooming multiple successors is just a recipe for further chaos.

crosby + malkin, tho. it shouldn't be this hard

mookieproof, Saturday, 28 June 2014 01:57 (ten years ago) link

apparently garth snow won the draft with ho-sang
