donna (donna), Monday, 30 September 2002 22:12 (twenty-three years ago)

To sing Human League songs.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 1 October 2002 00:19 (twenty-three years ago)

And then to team up with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis to recover.

James Blount (James Blount), Tuesday, 1 October 2002 00:43 (twenty-three years ago)

Why is it *the* Lebanon?? Yes, I thought about that when that song came out as well. btw, that song was really stinking rotten awful.

Sean (Sean), Tuesday, 1 October 2002 00:46 (twenty-three years ago)

Lebanese food is the bomb, definately try some while you are on your trip.

Nicole (Nicole), Tuesday, 1 October 2002 00:54 (twenty-three years ago)

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 1 October 2002 03:43 (twenty-three years ago)

I am related to a former president of the country! Souleiman Franjieh was married to my favourite aunt's sister. I've never been there though.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 1 October 2002 11:40 (twenty-three years ago)

Hey do a reply to this from there... actually, going to the Lebanon is VERY interesting, at least to me.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 1 October 2002 12:03 (twenty-three years ago)

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 1 October 2002 12:16 (twenty-three years ago)

angela (angela), Tuesday, 1 October 2002 12:20 (twenty-three years ago)

Vicar, while you're there, could you identify the exact spot referred to in my favourite Human League lyric?: 'and where there used to be some shops / is where the snipers sometimes hide...'. Thanks in advance. Bluddy grate song, by the way.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Tuesday, 1 October 2002 12:21 (twenty-three years ago)

Er heh it's up to you, I don't mind either! I'm arriving on the 10th and leaving you on the 15th *bounce*

angela (angela), Tuesday, 1 October 2002 12:27 (twenty-three years ago)

The Vicar is going to "the FUCKING Lebanon". That's why he's going.

the pinefox, Tuesday, 1 October 2002 12:47 (twenty-three years ago)

two weeks pass...
Lebanon is cool.

Martin, the Franjiehs are your inlaws? Make sure you don't get caught up in any of their feuds with other leading Christian families.

DV (dirtyvicar), Friday, 18 October 2002 11:11 (twenty-three years ago)

The aunt whose sister was married to former president Souleiman Franjieh died some years ago, and I've had no contact with my Lebanese relatives since then, and not much before that - I met a couple of them (I got to know the grandson quite well), is all.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 18 October 2002 18:16 (twenty-three years ago)

is the grandson also called Suleiman? I think he might be involved in politics as well out there.

It really is a small world.

I think it would be great if Momus turned out to be an in-law of some other Lebanese first family, and then the two of you had a big feud.

DV (dirtyvicar), Friday, 18 October 2002 21:31 (twenty-three years ago)

There were quite a few grandchildren, I think, but the one I hung around with a bit for a while wasn't called Suleiman, no.
