Bad precedence that designers can ignore the challenge and not get canned for it -- not just Army Chick, but scissor tattoo girl who used a whole bunch of white didn't seem to get called out at all.

And did the judges actually point out the vag drop on Russian's swimsuit and the editors cut it? Or did they not want the model to die any further from embarrassment?

Really kind of gross the way the judges brought the models out and poked and prodded them and mostly talked around them like they were inanimate objects.

idk I kinda liked that the judges get to look at the dresses up close, so hopefully the shitty-ass sewers can get called out more than they have been in the past

I still have leftover indignance on behalf of envirotroll's model -- I wanted to give her a hug, she was so bummed out by him

and like, I think that is 10 times worse than any poking or prodding by the judges. Make an awesome dress, and treat your model like a person who is going to make your awesome dress look 10 times more awesome... you will get SO much further than treating her like she's some sort of poseable fucking doll for you to use for your backyard theater fantasies

Don't get me wrong, letting the judges see the clothes up close is good, but for all their presence, the models could be mannequins.

xpost -- see I'm an enviro, and I want to get on board w/ his thing, though Zac gave voice to my initial reaction at him putting to fire synthetic materials. And I unno, I thought that if his model had a dance background, things would've gone better, but whatevs, the kid's not going to be around for more than a few more weeks.

That's the state that most mature reality programs reside -- in the older they get, the less they're about fashion or modeling or whatever.

I got teary-eyed with the proposal, especially the 1 Week Later snippet (even though I was all "Oh noes Josh stole Braden's thunder!!!"), but I have to say, I thought he was going to be in B3. One of the designers said it was too literal, which is OTM.

Dom I wanted to like, too, but the bib of ties seemed a little heavy. Didn't Top Gunn tell her to open up the neck area during his critiques, and then she goes back to her original idea?

OK I give, worst cast ever.

I can't wait for the NETGEAR ROUTER challenge or the TOWNHOUSE FLATBREAD CRISPS challenge or the QUICKEN QUICKBOOKS challenge

I'm really disliking Helen more and more as she keeps winning. Her fake humility is gross.

She's the one that Tom & Lorenzo call afternoon special, right? I love that about her!

"After School Special." And, in a personal favorite, they call Ken "Coco Montrese" (which is an insult to the real Coco Montrese).

Oops, I definitely meant After School! And yeah, Coco Montrese does seem like a harsh insult to the real Coco - she sucked, but not in quite the spectacularly evil way Ken does.

BTW what is up with designers on this show hearing "job interview" and putting them in boring suits?

And I swear that print Dom picked out has been used before, if not earlier this season then not too long ago.

Ken has a bit of Coco's death-laser & that clipped, v proper way of speaking but he's waaaay crazier than Coco ever was

When Kate was all, "I hope the judges give me another chance," I was all, "Which would be your third chance."

Pretty sure she got the boot not because her piece looked like butt, but because she called the challenge the HP Challenge, when it's actually the HP-Intel Challenge. Don't piss off your sponsors!

I read in the comments of TLo's recap that Kate couldn't print out her original idea of using binary code to create patterns, and some people are all, "Aww, that's too bad," and I'm thinking to myself, "Do you all really think that ASCII art on a dress is fashion?"

i wish there were more christian sirianos whenever the avant challenge comes up -- no-one's ever eccentric enough for my taste. I got briefly excited for Helen's zodiac-killer hood/cocoon thing and then that was stomped on :( it kinda seemed a bit mcqueen to me, I would have liked to see it taken all the way.

i feel bad bc I like helen's talent, but I hate her to watch on the show. she's so horrible in almost all ways except sewing. I can't see how Alexandria or Justin could possibly beat her with a collection. Not that I really like either of them terribly as designers. shrug

I was mentally screaming at my computer monitor that she should make a vest/dress/skirt one-piece thingy out of the cocoon, but with a really high collar (the back of which could extend straight up above her head), with whatever orange thing she was working on before. Was the technique she ended up using taken from the Chris Palu playbook?

Also surprised to see the positive reaction to Bradon's noodles -- I thought they were placed randomly/tastelessly. I thought it would've looked a lot better if they had been arranged in a long skirt to resemble a flower shaped like this, and then the top could be the butterfly drinking from the flower -- instead of noodles tacked onto a piece of fabric.

And smoky eyes and tight chignons for everyone, because I don't know any other styling choices.

But this, though, I think that PR is rarely going to have contestants with enough vision and technique to pull off something that has a real bit of the avant to it.

And yeah, Chris March is the secret genius wunderkind of season 4.

yeah the noodles weren't placed in a way I was v happy with either. i kind of wanted more insect-feeler movement out of them, I hoped they'd have more length coming off the dress so that they bobbed around more

Remember Chris's human hair outfit in his final collection? I think that indicates who brought the avantness in his and Siriano's look.

I have to say that when the model in Alexandria's redux pants turned around, I stopped everything I was doing.

Love when Dom and that one model team up (the one from this challenge, and the Domo-kun one), they seem to vibe off each other 100%.

alexandria's pants were p awesome. i just wish she'd taken that goth dress further, it could have been so much more interesting than it was

PS I was talking about my favorite reality shows w/ new coworkers this week and remarked that they're all on the swishy end of the spectrum: ANTM, RPDR, and PR. One of them said that PR wasn't that gay, and I really had no response for her.

Did not expect the way things wrapped up! I'm glad Dom won, but I'd been hoping that she'd gone in the direction she took w/ the avant garde piece, and underwhelmed generally by most of the collections. I mean, Alexandria's (!) was my favorite!
