Magic Mushrooms - Search and Consume (whilst fresh of course)

Well, 'tis the season of mists and mellow fruitfulness after all, is anyone planning to risk the wrath of the welsh farming community in pursuit of the elusive liberty cap?

The law, in the UK at least, regarding MMs is absurd - it's perfectly legal to pick them and consume when they are fresh and at their most potent, but once you "prepare" them e.g. dry the tiny fungi they magically turn into Class A drugs. Kind of like the doctrine of transubstantiation and equally hard to fathom.

I found about 20 on Exmoor a few weeks ago which was lame compared to the hundreds I picked there two years ago. The Brecon Beacons is the only other place I've found loads, but you've really got to time it right and have (i) a car and (ii) somewhere to dry them out before they get all maggoty (which is pretty quickly). If you find loads that is :)

My house is covered in chantrelles, thanks to my roommate having hunted and gathered them the other day.

In moderation, sat before an open fire with a close friend, along with excellent food and fine music = classic

Taken immoderately, feeling glum, on your own, watching Newsnight reports on Bosnian atrocities = one-way-ticket to hell (enough to put this punter off psychedelics for rest of his life)
