gareth (gareth), Tuesday, 1 October 2002 12:45 (twenty-two years ago)

I could definitely come.

Graham (graham), Tuesday, 1 October 2002 12:46 (twenty-two years ago)

there was almost a 'me and nick kilroy' christmas fap last year, but surely there are more yorkshire people knocking about here?

gareth (gareth), Tuesday, 1 October 2002 12:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Gareth you live in LONDON! Bah I wd go if I still had the option of going to Preston but oh no my christmas will be spent in cockfarming Gloucester and that's if my parents are even in the COUNTRY...

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 1 October 2002 12:50 (twenty-two years ago)

gareth (gareth), Tuesday, 1 October 2002 12:52 (twenty-two years ago)

gareth (gareth), Friday, 22 November 2002 11:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Dunno when I'll be home for Christmas, but I'm up for it if the date's convenient.

RickyT (RickyT), Friday, 22 November 2002 11:21 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm in Sheffield till about the 22nd/23rd. Could do Leeds or other Yorkshire location on my way over to Liverpool. Fancy a trip to the National Railway Museum in York, Its free to get in now....

Otherwise leeds is good.

Ed (dali), Friday, 22 November 2002 16:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Maybe.

Graham (graham), Friday, 22 November 2002 17:50 (twenty-two years ago)

seven months pass...
No, not a FAP, just curious, what's interesting for an American to do in Leeds?

Mary (Mary), Wednesday, 16 July 2003 05:43 (twenty-one years ago)

one year passes...
not a lot it would seem!

i guess there was a leeds fap of sorts last night, at the cockpit/scarborough arms/a house in woodhouse

charltonlido (gareth), Monday, 2 May 2005 12:51 (twenty years ago)

I am supposed to be visiting Leeds at the end of the month - although I'm not entirely sure if I'm actually *staying*, or if I'll have to commute (it's about 80 miles each way)

caitlin (caitlin), Monday, 2 May 2005 13:34 (twenty years ago)

eight months pass...
maybe

cozen (Cozen), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 16:39 (nineteen years ago)

cozen (Cozen), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 16:45 (nineteen years ago)

Forest Pines (ForestPines), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 16:52 (nineteen years ago)

cozen (Cozen), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 16:53 (nineteen years ago)

Forest Pines (ForestPines), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 16:55 (nineteen years ago)

im in town. not sure whether ill be around friday, am anticipating just coming up on sat. could meet for a drink before i go to west indian centre., but might be a bit tricky cos i will probably stay up norht in headingley as opposed to coming into town, before going to chapeltown. ive got yr mobile cozen so we'll sort something out nearer the time maybe?

ambrose (ambrose), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 17:09 (nineteen years ago)

yeah; no problem

don't have your mobile tho, ambrose

cozen (Cozen), Thursday, 12 January 2006 09:19 (nineteen years ago)

Might pop round to this.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Thursday, 12 January 2006 13:59 (nineteen years ago)

I know who you are; tht'd be nice

cozen (Cozen), Thursday, 12 January 2006 14:01 (nineteen years ago)

exclusive!

Sororah T Massacre (blueski), Thursday, 12 January 2006 14:02 (nineteen years ago)

leeds is an exclusive, party people kinda place.
Its great for shopping and going out!
why not try and get into exclusive clubs such as Townhouse, Rehab, home to world famous Back to Basics, or er...some other dive where LUFc players hang out?

ambrose (ambrose), Thursday, 12 January 2006 14:04 (nineteen years ago)

because I'm not a twat?

cozen (Cozen), Thursday, 12 January 2006 14:05 (nineteen years ago)

im not sure i liked the north bar so much, last time i was back. i think i liked the idea of it, the fact that people i know would be in there. but, i went in, and, it felt,,,a bit trip-hop really. perhaps it would help if i was a graphic designer

calderdale in the 70s (gareth), Thursday, 12 January 2006 14:11 (nineteen years ago)

mee-ow

Sororah T Massacre (blueski), Thursday, 12 January 2006 14:12 (nineteen years ago)

(ch)

Sororah T Massacre (blueski), Thursday, 12 January 2006 14:13 (nineteen years ago)

it would help if you were a recruitment consultant. or a lawyer.

actually rehab is full of twats but i like going to basics, its all cheesy loved up oldish rich people. as opposed to grubby young rich people eg at the mint club

ambrose (ambrose), Thursday, 12 January 2006 15:41 (nineteen years ago)

I'm a lawyer!!

(kinda)

cozen (Cozen), Thursday, 12 January 2006 15:49 (nineteen years ago)

Mojo was named one of the ten best bars in the country by teh Grauniad!

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Thursday, 12 January 2006 15:58 (nineteen years ago)

lets talk about bars in leeds

calderdale in the 70s (gareth), Thursday, 12 January 2006 20:07 (nineteen years ago)

FAB CAFE!

Or not.

I like the Brudenell. They have whisky. It is cheap.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Thursday, 12 January 2006 20:12 (nineteen years ago)

is that the faux-american diner happy days type place at the top of town, just before the metropolitan university?

heartcore? its home (gareth), Thursday, 12 January 2006 20:30 (nineteen years ago)

Fab Cafe kind of creeped me out the one time I went in there (with WBS, rivetingly enough). Its faux-hip jolliness kinda clashed with the real atmosphere in there, one of mind-crushing depressive dullness.

I honestly can't think of a better bar in Leeds than Mojo though. They do the best White Russians I've ever had, and the last time I went in there the DJ was happy to discuss Laura Brannigan album tracks for swathes of time. So, yeah, that.

The Elbow Room has an off-putting staircase angle, plus too many pool tables.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Thursday, 12 January 2006 22:36 (nineteen years ago)

I have (w)racked my brains and, to my chagrin, cannot think of a genuinely good Leeds bar. Mojo would be, but is intolerably busy at almost any time you would wish to go. Milo could be, but is now distinctly down at heel(and not in a good way). North and Cela, pleasant but uninspiring. Sandinista's OK for destructive drinking but has nowhere comfortable to sit. Oporto and Norman can be OK when not overrun with Top Shop "hipsters". I like The Adelphi but it's an old man's pub turned gastropub, not a bar. My civic pride is shattered.

Adam Faithless (Adam Faithless), Friday, 13 January 2006 01:52 (nineteen years ago)

Is Leeds the place where they kept making us cross the street between various drinking establishments to convey messages? Strange town.

Mary (Mary), Friday, 13 January 2006 04:31 (nineteen years ago)

i like arcadia in headingley. corny choice, but still. dont know where to go in town, so generally just go straight to clubs. north bar seems to be the most commonly called upon though. oporto is ok.
never been to mojo, heard of it tho.

i just go to the hyde park social, the chemic, and brudenells, generally. once a student fuck, always a student fuck.

ambrose (ambrose), Friday, 13 January 2006 10:04 (nineteen years ago)

I've thought of one I like - the Upper Circle bar at the City Varieties. I've been to FAB Cafe once and played table football with the Honourable Member for Selby. The DJ played "Everybody Hurts" as the end of the night smoocher.

Adam Faithless (Adam Faithless), Friday, 13 January 2006 11:32 (nineteen years ago)

The Brudenell is w00t. More people should go. (I hear it has gold-plated fire doors now.)

I am going to Leeds today.

emil.y (emil.y), Friday, 13 January 2006 11:54 (nineteen years ago)

??? i dont remember this

where is mojo? i dont think i have ever been. i dont like the name

calderdale in the 70s (gareth), Friday, 13 January 2006 12:19 (nineteen years ago)

It's on a street connecting Upper Briggate with Vicar Lane. Near the Grand Theatre and what was Mr Craig's (now Gatecrasher Discotheque).

Adam Faithless (Adam Faithless), Friday, 13 January 2006 12:23 (nineteen years ago)

two years pass...

Probably out in Leeds next weekend - any of you guys still live there? Which bars you recommend?

Hello Everyone!, Sunday, 11 May 2008 13:32 (seventeen years ago)

Mojo behind the train station

Dom Passantino, Sunday, 11 May 2008 13:34 (seventeen years ago)

So this was where the infamous 'ilx date rape' occurred?

water, Sunday, 11 May 2008 15:07 (seventeen years ago)

north bar, sela bar, sandinista, milos, reform all hit and miss but good

check out cops n robber newsletter and LIMA (leeds improv jazz noise stuff) for gigs

im not in leeds next weekend but if i were i'd prob go to suck my left one on friday then club somewhere saturday. hyde park corner and hyde park for food and sunshine.

Crackle Box, Sunday, 11 May 2008 19:34 (seventeen years ago)
