Baseball playoffs, divisional series. Who, besides the Mets, is gonna win?

Benjamin, Wednesday, 2 October 2002 00:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Whoah! The Mets aren't in it, and Bobby V was sacked today. Steve Phillips, astoundingly, still lives.

I think: Athletics, Yankees, Cardinals, and Giants.

Benjamin, Wednesday, 2 October 2002 00:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Ditto. The Cardinals are stronger than they were last year, and the Diamondbacks are weaker without Gonzalez -- and last year, it took five games for Arizona to win, if I remember right.

A's and Yankees go without saying.

Giants ... it depends on Bonds. His postseason record is pretty terrible, but that could change.

Tep (ktepi), Wednesday, 2 October 2002 01:13 (twenty-two years ago)

My hopes: Cards win, Yanks lose, Bonds chokes again.

bnw (bnw), Wednesday, 2 October 2002 01:14 (twenty-two years ago)

David Eckstein!

Seriously, I think

As + Yankees ==> A's (3rd time's a charm)
Braves + Cards ==> Braves

Advantage AL this year ==> A's in 7

You really should be here now, Felicity -- housemate Ben is being very voluble in the front room about the game (I can tell how well things are going by the relative amounts of silence, cursing and cheering -- Ben is very interactive with his televised sports.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 2 October 2002 01:46 (twenty-two years ago)

ha that would be fun.

now we're into the pens. My prediction: les angels will will on a squeeze play

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 2 October 2002 01:48 (twenty-two years ago)

as long as the yankees don;t win the whole thing I don't care who does.

Aaron Grossman (aajjgg), Wednesday, 2 October 2002 02:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Aarrrgh- my poor Yankees, they get no love here. Is the game still going?
:(

lyra (lyra), Wednesday, 2 October 2002 02:27 (twenty-two years ago)

If David "Billy" Eckstein throws the bat at another pitchout, I shall marry her.

Benjamin, Wednesday, 2 October 2002 02:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Yankees get four in the bottom of the 8th, lead 8-5 going into the 9th. Bernie Williams three run homer.

This is on Fox, you know? Regular Fox, not Fancy Cable Fox.

Benjamin, Wednesday, 2 October 2002 02:40 (twenty-two years ago)

*&^%!@# Schoeneweis. why oh why not Percival? grrr

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 2 October 2002 02:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't own a TV, and I was kicked out of my friend's apartment in the first inning a few hours ago for saying that Derek Jeter was the cutest man in baseball.

lyra (lyra), Wednesday, 2 October 2002 03:00 (twenty-two years ago)

justifiable so, when everybody knows that distinction belongs to Mark Mulder

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 2 October 2002 03:02 (twenty-two years ago)

when people call Jeter "Mr. October" all I can think is that his head looks like a pumpkin.

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 2 October 2002 03:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, Aaron you can be happy: Angels beat the Yankees, 9-5.

I was wondering why the house was abandoned when I came back just now, then I realized that Ben must be somewhere drinking himself silly with happiness. :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 6 October 2002 01:06 (twenty-two years ago)

I gotta start making more wishes.

bnw (bnw), Sunday, 6 October 2002 02:03 (twenty-two years ago)
