It's funny to me that this is coming out now, because the Cleveland Museum of Art just wrapped up a huge exhibit last month, The Last Days of Pompeii, which examined the ways in which Pompeii has become a lens through which people view themes of nature, decadence and destruction. (Among other terrific pieces, it included some never-before-exhibited Rothkos.)
