Sir,-

As one of the disaffected youth (I claim the honour loosely) who is blessed (I use the term more loosely still) with a working knowledge of several such types of modern communication device as castigated by the good Fr. Con McGillicuddy, I would like to respond. I only hope that my recollection of such questions does not fail me, as I fear it is many years since any such ethereal questions troubled me- long before, indeed, the mobile phone or the iPad came along, and certainly I've never been overtroubled by the twists and turns of TV soaps.

Fr. Con's boss may speak to his direct staff (indeed, it must be so, for don't they all claim it?) yet it is rare that he deigns to address the youth directly. I do not presume to tell the deity in question his business, but if he must employ conduits for the purposes of mass communication (I do not criticise him for this, the public are a great annoyance and to be avoided at all costs if a busy executive is to get anything done in the day) then it is the very least he could do to ensure that they are au fait with (or, at the very least, not so distrustful of!) the modern technology used for such purposes in today's world.

Such techniques are a positive boon for the CEO trying to get his message across directly to the end user, but he must, unfortunately, be mindful that the loss of prestige, position, and power that ensues in the now-unnecessary legacy corporate architecture must be managed carefully, lest resentment build among those employees who, fearing to embrace these new methods and means, find themselves catering only to an ever-dwindling customer base.

Yours, etc,

According to the outgoing Chief Rabbi, Lord Sacks, society is “losing the plot” as it becomes more secular and less trusting. Lord Sacks should choose his words more carefully, as atheists have long held that the basis of all religion is nothing more than a plot to control humankind. That is a plot worth losing, sir.
