I sort of regret starting the other thread and feel guilty whenever I see it near the top of site new answers, so I thought I should contribute to this one. I love my first name. I'm too paranoid to post my first name on ilx so you'll have to take my word for it, but honestly, it's awesome.

i too like my basic level of calmness and stability even if i did break it this weekend with an uncharacteristic but probably warranted bit of panic and horror. my precious reputation.

in an odd way, and kinda parallel to this thread, a notable mental upswing for me occurred recently not through self-realisation but through a universal realisation, namely that the world has a lot going for it and while it's a shame i'm not adequate to everything that's good in it, being adequate to it is something to aim for. it makes relating to things a lot easier and brings into focus that which is really bad in the world and how to combat it.

well if it helps I can vouch for the possibility of being suffocatingly cynical or at least wary + having low expectations and still being permanently anxious and on the edge of an embarrassing strop and/or meltdown

think my self-loathing is actually a kind of outrageous narcissism ("why am I not currently being as special and being universally hailed as as special as I think I should be") but nope, nothing specific I can pull out as a positive for this thread. seeya

I love my appetite. I eat ravenously, I'll eat any and all foods, but I have no cataclysmic desire for junk food like ice cream, donuts or potato chips. My body really wants piles of beet greens and wads of berries. I love that.

Other than that, there is an implicit and holistic kind of self-acceptance that encompasses most of my being and my daily life. I wouldn't say I love anything specific, but I definitely "love self" in a general sort of way

OK, been thinking about this, here's what I can come up with that I genuinely at least like about myself if not love, not about to marry any of this stuff ffs.

- I really am very funny.
- Can and will read anything from academic crit theory stuff to crappy ass genre fiction.
- Same w/movies, I like both the "difficult" stuff and superheroes.
- Have a great ear when playing guitar/bass even if my technical skill isn't as good.

I make friends very easily.

I'm pretty fun! This won't get me a job or save the world, but it's important to me.

Ditto FFM on being a tall lady. Not that I did anything to achieve this, but I choose to embrace it and value it for being very useful in a number of situations.

i cultivate my friendships fairly carefully and have a social circle i'm generally happy with.

i'm a good conversationalist -- knowledgeable, always ready with the jokes, earnest/quiet when i need to be.

i'm "worldly" but not so i can lord it over other people -- i just like learning about things.

i take karaoke very seriously. i research the song list beforehand and come prepared.

also, i have a well-developed sense of empathy. it's a blessing and a curse, but i'd say it's about 90 percent blessing.

I have nice calves. Sometimes that is all that keeps me going in life.

At the risk of seeming delusional, honestly, pretty much everything? I am and have been for quite some time totally down with being me. I dig being in my skin and don't really have any regrets abt anything.
