bends in all honesty ILX is probably about all it could be, but the price of having a message board worth using amidst all the horrible crap on the internet is at least a level of snarky vigilance from the peanut gallery. there's been times in the past when some of the shit flung on here has no question gone too far, but i think it's not a big deal to accept that if you say something that people think is horribly banal or offensive to taste or reason then you ought to get zung and get zung good. cut and thrust and all that. if you (not you personally) want a world with no cut and no thrust then maybe there's somewhere else to go where everybody agrees with every dumb thing you (we) decide to post. personally i'd only mod for bigotry and attacks that cross into personal abuse - if somebody's only attacking what somebody else has said then all's fair i reckon.

but y'know this uneasy balance is how it has to be, i can understand it's tedious if somebody likes stacking their albums up in different patterns week after week, month after month, that they might think it's mean when somebody comes into that little bit of private space and calls them an idiot. it's just that each of those little bits of private space are also part of this collective thing and i seriously believe if the balance shifts too far any one direction then the board eventually becomes a wasteland of lamesters.

The best thread I have ever seen on ILX is the one about the excellent puppy Henry. Because Henry is more than just cute. He's soulful. He is the dog of my dreams and I feel pure joy when I see his picture. So I voted for the cute animal thread, but really, it's all about the excellent puppy Henry.
