The dinner party scene near the start where Bagley is berating Penny Wheelstock is a masterpiece by itself. "I wouldn't care if you were so huge we had to put up scaffolding to feed you!"
A common complaint against it, even by Bruce Robinson itself, is that it's too didactic and doesn't hang together, but the comedy is so persistently rich and strange that I think that becomes subsidiary.
