imo

how's life, Sunday, 8 September 2013 22:25 (eleven years ago)

I'm subscribed to all kinds of stuff: Muir Glen fire-roasted tomatoes and tomato paste, tuna in olive oil, coconut milk, coconut manna, coconut water, dates, laundry soap, dishwasher tablets, various cleaning supplies like magic erasers, various supplements, various curry pastes, tamarind, instant espresso powder, macadamia nut oil, empty capsules I fill with various supplements, bar soap, shampoo, razor blades, toothbrush heads, giant ziploc bags for yarn storage. I usually sign up for a 6 month interval the first time I get something, then cancel if I hate it or change the quantity/frequency if I don't. As long as you get 5 things delivered per month, it's 15% off.

mr veg has subscribed us to

airconditioning filters
toothbrush heads for electric toothbrushes
electric razor plate thingys

the a/c filter subscription has been an A+ investment, especially with this summer being so long and hot

jaq can you link the coconut milk you subscribe to? i looked for chaokoh but it was absurdly expensive. i think i'm gonna do dish soap, and maybe even toilet paper.

veryupsetmom (harbl), Monday, 9 September 2013 01:32 (eleven years ago)

If it's something I can also get at costco, I check the price there every so often. If less at costco some month, I skip the amazon delivery and buy at costco. The amazon prices fluctuate - put stuff in your cart "for later" and you can see the variations. But availability varies at costco.

Btw you seem to be able to skip subscribe and save deliveries indefinitely without penalty, though you do have to remember a week before the scheduled delivery.

I get this one, harbl: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003VYIZT0/ref=rcxsubs_mys2_product_title
It's got guar in it, but I like the texture better than this one, which was gritty: http://www.amazon.com/Natural-Value-Coconut-13-5-Ounce-Containers/dp/B000LKVIEG/ref=sr_sp-atf_image_1_3?s=grocery&ie=UTF8&qid=1378691141&sr=1-3&keywords=coconut+milk

Jaq, Monday, 9 September 2013 01:46 (eleven years ago)

Water filters, cliff bars, nuun tablets.

Jeff, Monday, 9 September 2013 01:49 (eleven years ago)

stop buying stuff via amazon

conrad, Monday, 9 September 2013 09:11 (eleven years ago)

No

Jeff, Monday, 9 September 2013 09:13 (eleven years ago)

ok

conrad, Monday, 9 September 2013 09:39 (eleven years ago)

I subscribed to powdered soy milk because no store had it. I have to say it was a good value - sure beat running to the 7-11 for an ice cream in the middle of the night.

Cat food. If we can figure out how much cat litter we use, we'll probably subscribe to that. Anything that makes going to the grocery store a huge pain in the ass (and back) for having to carry it home or things that are not available at the most convenient grocery store locations are good for this, I think.

When the kid comes, we'll probably subscribe to diapers or wipes, I'm thinking.

f amazon you guys

conrad, Friday, 7 March 2014 14:59 (eleven years ago)

I want to f amazon but with no car and a baby it's like the primary way we keep our house stocked with basic non-food supplies. :(

carl agatha, Friday, 7 March 2014 15:01 (eleven years ago)

they do food too you know

conrad, Friday, 7 March 2014 15:04 (eleven years ago)

We use Peapod for big shopping these days.

carl agatha, Friday, 7 March 2014 15:05 (eleven years ago)

not subscribing til they have drones, f amazon

johnny crunch, Friday, 7 March 2014 15:06 (eleven years ago)

I thought about subscribing to diapers but you only save like 5% and it seems like I'm either going to wind up with more or less than I need, or else wind up accidentally ordering an extra box after the size is no longer good.

james franco tur(oll)ing test (Hurting 2), Friday, 7 March 2014 15:07 (eleven years ago)

We subscribe to diapers and wipes and cat food. So far the cat food has been the most successful because Francie is constant, bless her furry little heart. For diapers, I basically move Ivy up to the next size diapers as soon as she's in the weight limit and we finish what we have to maximize our shipping window.

carl agatha, Friday, 7 March 2014 15:10 (eleven years ago)

I eats allot of gluten free toaster patires cause they is good - I aint supposed to but i DO

Brian Eno's Mother (Latham Green), Friday, 7 March 2014 17:22 (eleven years ago)

carl agatha i recommend Instacart over Peapod. free delivery with a $35 purchase, and you can get groceries from whole foods, shaw's, and costco.

the downside is that they don't keep as good track of inventory/sale prices as peapod does, but ime Peapod often replaces a lot of the stuff you order anyway.

een, Friday, 7 March 2014 21:16 (eleven years ago)

We've done Instacart, too. I'm not sure why we don't use them more often.

carl agatha, Friday, 7 March 2014 22:45 (eleven years ago)

Ended up being pricier.
