I have no idea what "boring" is an autocorrect for in c. Viewing maybe? Fuck u phone

O_o-O_O-o_O (jjjusten), Wednesday, 18 September 2013 04:55 (twelve years ago)

Oh ha voting probably. Goddamn it

O_o-O_O-o_O (jjjusten), Wednesday, 18 September 2013 04:57 (twelve years ago)

Ok just finished "Fireworks" and I am mostly overcome with the how the fuck is it possible that this existed in 1947 but that is not meant to diminish the fact that it is just stunningly brilliant and amazing

O_o-O_O-o_O (jjjusten), Wednesday, 18 September 2013 06:09 (twelve years ago)

That's what always kills me about Anger. You watch something and you think it's some recent art-short, but no. Then you think it's maybe some Warhol imitator but it's still older...

Oh, and the right answer is Rabbit's Moon

I have gathered no gaudy flowers of speech in other men's gardens (dowd), Wednesday, 18 September 2013 06:22 (twelve years ago)

Which is what i am watching right now and holy shit

Inauguration of the Pleasure Dome w/ the ELO s/t, pl

Ward Fowler, Wednesday, 18 September 2013 08:01 (twelve years ago)

Pleasure Dome is my favourite Anger by far. AMAZING.

Jamie_ATP, Wednesday, 18 September 2013 14:38 (twelve years ago)

yeah pleasure dome's hard to beat but I guess this is a good excuse to rescreen them all

also kind of weird to not poll his full filmography rather than leave the poll to the vagaries of DVD packaging but w/e

a hard dom is good to find (Edward III), Wednesday, 18 September 2013 14:47 (twelve years ago)

these are all great on their own individual merits, and are so distinct and different it's hard to pick one (if Lucifer Rising were on here I'd vote for that...)

what's up ugly girls? (Shakey Mo Collier), Wednesday, 18 September 2013 15:51 (twelve years ago)

Have we done any other experimental short films polls. I need an excuse to rewatch some Brakhage...

I have gathered no gaudy flowers of speech in other men's gardens (dowd), Wednesday, 18 September 2013 16:16 (twelve years ago)

I think 'Rabbit's Moon' might be the only one of these I've seen? Or maybe 'Pleasure Dome' too, not sure. Would've preferred a full filmography poll, anyway.

Don't think we've done experimental short films poll but some avant-garde stuff has come up in the decades poll and the animation poll...

emil.y, Wednesday, 18 September 2013 16:23 (twelve years ago)

*decades polls, plural

emil.y, Wednesday, 18 September 2013 16:24 (twelve years ago)

im going to follow this up with a poll on volume 2, so now worries full poll peeps. also honestly full filmography polls always sort of disappoint me because the votes get so spread (not guessing that an anger poll is going to exactly bring in a flood of votes either way)

O_o-O_O-o_O (jjjusten), Wednesday, 18 September 2013 17:00 (twelve years ago)

has anyone ever established whether his whole "Hollywood child actor" thing is bullshit or not

what's up ugly girls? (Shakey Mo Collier), Wednesday, 18 September 2013 17:01 (twelve years ago)

Pleasure Dome definitely, it looks like they had so much fun making that film.

Moodles, Wednesday, 18 September 2013 17:07 (twelve years ago)

I loved Rabbit's Moon because of the doo-wop score. Take that away, and it wouldn't hold any interest for me.

clemenza, Wednesday, 18 September 2013 17:08 (twelve years ago)

Without Fireworks, there would be no gays today. Voting Fireworks.

Vol. 2 will be a tougher call.

have you seen the version with the glam score

has anyone ever established whether his whole "Hollywood child actor" thing is bullshit or not

it's mainly his claim that he appeared as the young prince in the 1930s version of Midsummer Night's Dream - which, from the look of his wiki page, does seem like an untruth - or, to put a Angerian gloss on it, it was an incantation designed to make a desire a reality

think i've put this on ilx before, but shows he's still got it imho:

Didn't really love Mouse Heaven.

Oh, and his Q&A at the Walker a few years back was a delightful scandal!

This is missing a lot of stuff. Where is "Scorpio" or "Lucifer Rising"?

Voting "Puce Moment" for the amazing soundtrack.

Emperor Cos Dashit (Adam Bruneau), Wednesday, 18 September 2013 17:38 (twelve years ago)

did you miss the "volume one" part

a hard dom is good to find (Edward III), Wednesday, 18 September 2013 17:40 (twelve years ago)

doh

Emperor Cos Dashit (Adam Bruneau), Wednesday, 18 September 2013 17:41 (twelve years ago)

volume two is

Scorpio Rising (1964)
Kustom Kar Kommandos (1965)
Invocation of My Demon Brother (1969)
Rabbit's Moon (1979) - glam version shakey was talking about
Lucifer Rising (1981)
The Man We Want to Hang (2002)

a hard dom is good to find (Edward III), Wednesday, 18 September 2013 17:44 (twelve years ago)

tho splitting them will make it easier for me to vote for invocation of my demon brother, quite possibly my favorite film title of all time

a hard dom is good to find (Edward III), Wednesday, 18 September 2013 17:54 (twelve years ago)

have you seen the version with the glam score

― what's up ugly girls? (Shakey Mo Collier), Wednesday, September 18, 2013 1:17 PM

Not sure if you're kidding or not, but I did see one of his films (Pleasure Dome?) where he'd added a whole lot of ELO music years later. (I think it all may have been from the same album.) Loved that, too.

Really? Huh.

midnight outdoor nude frolic up north goes south (Eric H.), Tuesday, 24 September 2013 02:12 (twelve years ago)

despite that being my last minute vote after really really being up in the air between it and fireworks, i am fairly surprised by this result as well

I saw a great magazine profile of him when he was living in New York in the 80s. His apartment was painted vibrant red and was like a museum for old days of Hollywood with items and relics he’s collected over the years on display.
