My god, Gareth; you sound like a Steely Dan lyric!

Good god, Gareth, don't go there under any circumstances. It's like a whole city of sewage treatment plants.

geeta (geeta), Thursday, 3 October 2002 12:03 (twenty-three years ago)

hey gareth. there's really much not to do there besides grab your baggage and flee, elizabeth is seriously dire. its many attractions include an ikea, detrius from newark airport (threadbare motor lodges; long term discount parking lots), chemical treatment plants and urban decay. as with any decomposing eastern city, there are ace places to eat for next to nothing and really interesting
architecture that hasn't been paved over due to lack of interest, but unless you're willing to endure the horrid burning stink of pollution (did i mention the smell?) you'd be better off almost anywhere else in the world, including newark. (newark is neat, can't you pick up your bag there?)

Now you've turned Gareth into a character from a Quentin Tarantino movie.

elizabeth is fun, my mom taught special ed there when i was little & one of the techers waas a crackhead. she had a baby with the janitor. and one time she was teaching a bunch of girls african dance for an assembly type thing but instead of african dance they were just stuffing fabric in their panties & shimmying around & the faculty toilet stall was in the middle of the teacher's lounge. they value education over there, yes they do. in spring when i'd visit i always caught butterflies, or was it summer? whenever there were butterflies. i'd kill them and take them home in my pocket.

i neve noticed any smell. as said above, elizabeth is fun.

Imagine if you lived there and were called Elizabeth. People would be giving you new jerseys all the time and thinking it was funny and you'd be mad as hell. Especially seeing as you'd call them sweaters and wouldn't even get the joke.
