Smart-Drink Futurism

Recently, I was talking with a friend who writes about technology, and the term "smart-drink futurism" came out of my mouth. I think it's a useful term: the Next Big Thing that not only doesn't come to pass, but looks incredibly silly a few years down the line. I wondered: what are some other things that fall into this category?
