I'm not drunk I'm just wondering if I was would this new Madonna thing sound better, not that I don't quite like it.

Ronan (Ronan), Thursday, 3 October 2002 23:45 (twenty-three years ago)

um, it's usually pretty classic, although i just woke up and i feel hung over and all i did was take a nap! perhaps i need to be drunk to even myself out.

jess (dubplatestyle), Thursday, 3 October 2002 23:46 (twenty-three years ago)

I've been out 7 nights in a row and I've got this mindfucking dilemma on Saturday, Mr C, Claude Young, or Justin Robertson, OPO.

Ronan (Ronan), Thursday, 3 October 2002 23:53 (twenty-three years ago)

Dud if you end up writing stupid things...and I wasn't even drunk yesterday, I just had not eaten for about 2 days so it went to my head.

Nicole (Nicole), Thursday, 3 October 2002 23:55 (twenty-three years ago)

Classic, but it can vary wildly depending on the booze. Red wine drunk = classic x 10000000

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Thursday, 3 October 2002 23:57 (twenty-three years ago)

Getting drunk w/people = classic
Metting [etc.] people while already drunk = usually dud

Graham (graham), Thursday, 3 October 2002 23:59 (twenty-three years ago)

Kissing people while drunk=almost always dud.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 4 October 2002 00:01 (twenty-three years ago)

Nonsense

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Friday, 4 October 2002 00:21 (twenty-three years ago)

classic if you have fun
dud if you do stuff you either dont remember or feel too embarrassed about to go out in public for a month.

donna (donna), Friday, 4 October 2002 00:55 (twenty-three years ago)

Being drunk with other people is fine. Being drunk on your own can be dud. Being too drunk is dud (too drunk = you're not having fun any more b/c of the drink, so this is a circular argt)

Tom (Groke), Friday, 4 October 2002 06:01 (twenty-three years ago)

Being a bit pissed = classic.
Being drunk = dud.

Most weekends for about a year I used to get blind drunk, then I realised that it wasn't actually any fun at all. These days I'll stop if I start slurring my speech or get a bit disoriented.

Andrew (enneff), Friday, 4 October 2002 06:25 (twenty-three years ago)

ronan, i'd go with claude young 'cause the detroit boys always rock the joint. at this point i'd just like to inform you that i'm off to sankey's soap in manchester tonight for the legendary FRANCOIS KERVORKIAN. boy, am i excited.

michael wells (michael w.), Friday, 4 October 2002 07:31 (twenty-three years ago)

Aha! I saw Young before and he was scratching with his head and stuff which was cool. Never seen Robertson and I have a mix CD and a few singles and like him alot. But I'd have to pay for Robertson. Mr C is in the nicest club and also my friend is support DJ who always gets us in so it might be nice to go along for his sake also. I've seen Mr C twice recently but I'm still kind of into the idea of seeing him again. There're so many good gigs here lately, it's mental, I want to take a week off drugs or something but obviously it's the good djs fault for coming here and not mine for having little or no will power.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 4 October 2002 10:42 (twenty-three years ago)

musically i'd probably go with mr c, a bit less banging, perhaps. if your mate's warming up for him then decision made, surely. you should be jealous about F.K., though.

michael wells (michael w.), Friday, 4 October 2002 10:45 (twenty-three years ago)

I've never seen him so I can't be jealous!

Mr C is great alright, my mate always warms up for everyone and works for the promoters every week, but I would still feel bad going to one of the other gigs sort of when it suits us just because I can use my website contacts to get in for free. Also at Mr C there's the option of going upstairs to the bar where the Irish DJs play old classics and bootlegs and house, haha, it's so dangerous if you go up you'll never go back to the main act.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 4 October 2002 10:50 (twenty-three years ago)

never seen him myself. f.k. has been going 20-odd years, one of the elder-statesmen of the disco-house continuum, you've heard of him, right? he was on the tribal sessions message board earlier in the week actually asking, not so much what was expected of him, more how he could 'maximise-the-vibe' or something. doing some reconnaisance, i suppose. i thought that pretty impressive.

michael wells (michael w.), Friday, 4 October 2002 11:01 (twenty-three years ago)

That's so cool, him coming on the messageboard, I've heard of Francois K yeah, just the name alot of times, never seen him. Sounds pretty cool, he's house? I'm mostly looking forward to Dave Clarke on the 26th, but also Jon Carter on November 5th, I've seen Carter so many fucking times, 10 or 11 but he's always worth it.

apparently, tonight he's going a bit techno, berlin-style, but i'd expect a few curveballs too. the week after we've got andy wetherall/miss kittin and the week after that it's the man tom middleton. spoilt ain't the word.

michael wells (michael w.), Friday, 4 October 2002 11:12 (twenty-three years ago)

Love to see Tom Middleton, I keep missing him, he never showed at Creamfields Ireland.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 4 October 2002 11:14 (twenty-three years ago)

dunno, I haven't been drunk in 8 years.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 4 October 2002 18:03 (twenty-three years ago)

I can top that Jel - it's almost 24 years for me, November 1978! I gave it up (getting drunk - I still drink beer and wine, just not very much of it) because I used to get sick, and anyway I preferred being stoned.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 4 October 2002 18:48 (twenty-three years ago)

Last night covered extremes of pleasure and pain while under the influence. In retrospect more pain than pleasure, argh.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 4 October 2002 21:59 (twenty-three years ago)

the correct answer is claude young. JR has always been a second stringer...

gareth (gareth), Friday, 4 October 2002 23:09 (twenty-three years ago)

CY scratches with his head seems like the big mac of techno.
