i really like dancing. how about you? do you dance at all? do you dance only in the privacy of yr bedroom? do you dance in public?

di smith (lucylurex), Friday, 4 October 2002 10:39 (twenty-three years ago)

i wish i was always dancing.

di smith (lucylurex), Friday, 4 October 2002 10:40 (twenty-three years ago)

I need someone to dance with :-(

Marcello Carlin, Friday, 4 October 2002 10:46 (twenty-three years ago)

I go along with that. I dance in the house, in this room here alot, I can't sit still when I have stuff on, but it's not dancing so much as bopping. Sometimes when I'm walking down the street I want to dance to my discman if it's a really good part, I'd say if people watched me closely they'd see the part of me that wants to dance dying to escape and notice me doing odd reduced gestures at various points. I loved Glastonbury, and Homelands or Creamfields, any festival really, cos I could just dance everywhere, anytime, and people wouldn't bat an eyelid.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 4 October 2002 10:47 (twenty-three years ago)

I will be dancing tonight.

Graham (graham), Friday, 4 October 2002 10:49 (twenty-three years ago)

marcello i would dance with you if i were in your vicinity.

I'd say if people watched me closely they'd see the part of me that wants to dance dying to escape ronan thats the best thing i've read all day!

di smith (lucylurex), Friday, 4 October 2002 10:49 (twenty-three years ago)

graham will you do the mashed potato for me?

di smith (lucylurex), Friday, 4 October 2002 10:50 (twenty-three years ago)

I would dance more if I wasn't as nervous, I can only dance when I've been drinking. My favourite dance is the bug!! Anyone can do the bug.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Friday, 4 October 2002 10:52 (twenty-three years ago)

Tell me how it works and I'll try. Does it involve jelly shaking?

Graham (graham), Friday, 4 October 2002 10:53 (twenty-three years ago)

The Lawnmower! Do the Lawnmower! Pretend yr PUSHING A LAWNMOWER! For the bug pretend to be itching/slapping at bugs on yrself then pass it on to somone else. Pretty much.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Friday, 4 October 2002 10:59 (twenty-three years ago)

pretend your mashing potatoes.

di smith (lucylurex), Friday, 4 October 2002 10:59 (twenty-three years ago)

I love the lawnmower!!!!!!!! I wish we could do the madison.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Friday, 4 October 2002 11:03 (twenty-three years ago)

"the part of me that wants to dance dying to escape".

did you mean that quite so literally, ronan, or am i reading too much into it?

michael wells (michael w.), Friday, 4 October 2002 11:03 (twenty-three years ago)

crikey i love to dance but ph34r that i look like a clueless old fart doing it these days. i dance around the living room to Talking Heads when i'm alone in the flat though heheehe...

katie (katie), Friday, 4 October 2002 11:06 (twenty-three years ago)

haha michael in "new Dan Perry" shocker! It's annoying, I keep getting caught by my family giving it fucking loads to stuff when I thought there was noone in the house.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 4 October 2002 11:16 (twenty-three years ago)

NO ONE, sorry.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 4 October 2002 11:21 (twenty-three years ago)

Dance like a machine! I dance around thee house, at gigs, in supermarkets. di & ronan have the right ideas.

(btw I am still puzzled by people dancing with other people. I suspect it is a sinistah MATING RITUAL or something which clearly violates international dance conventions!)

Ess Kay (esskay), Friday, 4 October 2002 11:21 (twenty-three years ago)

I keep getting caught by my family giving it fucking loads to stuff when I thought there was noone in the house.

that happened to me singing "hey, music lover" when i was 14. have been extremely vigilant ever since.

michael wells (michael w.), Friday, 4 October 2002 11:24 (twenty-three years ago)

I have to wait 8 hours until I can dance again

Sofa King Alternative (Sofa King Alternative), Friday, 4 October 2002 11:30 (twenty-three years ago)

I don't dance.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 4 October 2002 11:41 (twenty-three years ago)

Everything that Ronan has said in this thread applies to me as well

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Friday, 4 October 2002 12:38 (twenty-three years ago)

i will dance with anyone who asks via the del shannon song

cameron, Friday, 4 October 2002 13:26 (twenty-three years ago)

i don't wanna dance, dance with my baby no more.

g-kit (g-kit), Friday, 4 October 2002 13:35 (twenty-three years ago)

I love dancing, and I also love old dance-craze records, as long as they feature the obligatory "It's the new sensation / That's sweeping 'cross the nation," of course. 'The Wobble' by Dyke & the Blazers is particularly great.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 4 October 2002 17:28 (twenty-three years ago)

When I was four I went to an ice-skating rink and won a prize for doing the twist. The prize was a bag of candyfloss. So far as I can remember that was the last time I danced in public.

Livvie, Saturday, 5 October 2002 08:19 (twenty-three years ago)

No dancing occured from me last night. :-(

Graham (graham), Saturday, 5 October 2002 12:26 (twenty-three years ago)

I love dancing. People like my dancing but I think that that is probably because it is so hilariously retarded.

Then again... maybe when I'm dancing is the only time that my usual retardation is productively generated into something stylish and cool.

Keith McD (Keith McD), Saturday, 5 October 2002 12:49 (twenty-three years ago)

I was evil in Dunedin and did not dance when I promised Di I would. But I was feeling so relaxed. :-)

I have a photo of Di and Ess Kay Shakin Groove Thing to Joy Division, I think. It is worthy.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 5 October 2002 13:14 (twenty-three years ago)

...hmmm I have a photo of me karaoke-ing Joy Division onstage somewhere...

Keith McD (Keith McD), Saturday, 5 October 2002 13:25 (twenty-three years ago)

God damnit Ned. Scan those photos!

Andrew (enneff), Saturday, 5 October 2002 13:34 (twenty-three years ago)

Keith, your dancing is something metaphysical; beyond boundaries of style and social grace. It is something to be treasured and admired.

Andrew (enneff), Saturday, 5 October 2002 13:35 (twenty-three years ago)

God damnit Ned. Scan those photos!

YES YES YES lemme lone. It will happen before Terrastock, at least, so that way I don't have to deal with the ILX meet-up people talking about the photos while the rest of you complain. ;-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 5 October 2002 13:50 (twenty-three years ago)

Well can you blame me for wanting to see the picture(s) in which I look 'hot' and 'fuckable'? :)

Andrew (enneff), Saturday, 5 October 2002 13:53 (twenty-three years ago)

You scary man. It's just you in a group shot of five people -- how was I to know that people would see that photo and begin plotting your ravishment?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 5 October 2002 13:54 (twenty-three years ago)

But I was feeling so relaxed

. . . er, was this due to me plying you (& doorag!) with copious amounts of red wine, perchance?

Ess Kay (esskay), Saturday, 5 October 2002 14:02 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh, very very probably.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 5 October 2002 14:27 (twenty-three years ago)

ten months pass...
No one seems to want to go dancing in NYC anymore.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 19:01 (twenty-two years ago)

I can fix that.

Millar (Millar), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 19:03 (twenty-two years ago)

You're going to shut down all the dance venues in NYC?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 19:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Think less Giuliani, more Kevin Bacon, Ned.

Seriously though. I had these great clubs and they all got shut down for drug trafficking in the past year. I don't know where to go anymore. It's time for dancing but I don't want to go to Riddler's.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 19:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Just don't let Millar punch you in the chest when you dance with him!

Bryan (Bryan), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 19:07 (twenty-two years ago)

I thought you were wearing a kevlar undershirt

Millar (Millar), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 19:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Nope. It was still fun, though!

Bryan (Bryan), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 19:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Not as much for me since I didn't dance. SIGH.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 19:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Think less Giuliani, more Kevin Bacon, Ned.

He's got better hair than both.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 19:11 (twenty-two years ago)

You were too busy being in awe of us, Ally. I just wish someone had taken a picture of us hitting each other!

Bryan (Bryan), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 19:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Once again Ned damns with faint praise NOT EVERYBODY CAN LOOK LIKE YOU

Millar (Millar), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 19:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Hehehe Bryan check yr email.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 19:14 (twenty-two years ago)

HA! Well, you didn't have to go through what I went through with that, so count yourself lucky.

Bryan (Bryan), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 19:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Ways to make everyone on ILX paranoid #457.

Seriously though, you see my dilemma. Next time, my good man, we shall dance. I'm gonna try to see if I still have my hookup at Culture Club actually.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 19:24 (twenty-two years ago)
