I want to expand my horizons and improve myself as a human being, what ONE book would you recommend to someone looking to expand their horizons and improve themselves as a human being?

(I don't mean what book you would recommend me, specifically, otherwise I would give some more information about where my horizons currently stand, but what one book would you recommend in answer to that question.)

being honest, i would say that ulysses will make you more patient and accepting of the fact that your life is something to be experienced more than controlled, which is not the same thing as saying you have no control over your life.

It's not a book, but I would recommend "The Library of Babel", followed closely by "The Garden of Forking Paths".
