like i said on twitter, i'll never be troo kvlt californian, because i'm not crazy about avocados. i wish there were an option for a santa maria tri-tip sandwich. or a cemita poblana.

I think the one guy who would actually eat that Tennessee sandwich was a Mississippian who died in 1977.

pplains, Tuesday, 5 November 2013 01:13 (eleven years ago)

the one for my state is inaccurate so i'm gonna assume the one for every state is inaccurate

Indiana and Iowa both vie for the reputation of "Best Tenderloin" (albeit, unofficially).[citation needed]

mh, Tuesday, 5 November 2013 01:30 (eleven years ago)

Tip from Tae Kwon Do: (crüt), Tuesday, 5 November 2013 01:31 (eleven years ago)

also, i GUESS the iconic new york sandwich would come on a bagel, but i still would like to see upstate represented with a beef on weck or a spiedie.

"Get to know your state's sandwich"

if this had any legitimacy to it wouldn't i already know my state's sandwich

^^ post obviously honoring and supporting Qualcomm (zachlyon), Tuesday, 5 November 2013 01:42 (eleven years ago)

Lot more apples happening on sandwiches than I realized.

pplains, Tuesday, 5 November 2013 01:54 (eleven years ago)

My state's sandwich is dead on. Therefore, I assume the other 50 places are completely accurate.

j., Tuesday, 5 November 2013 03:26 (eleven years ago)

I've never been to a place in this state that served a pig ear sandwich.

WilliamC, Tuesday, 5 November 2013 03:41 (eleven years ago)

Ohio = Polish Boy = pretty accurate, at least in the northern part of the state.

Ian from Etobicoke (Phil D.), Tuesday, 5 November 2013 03:44 (eleven years ago)

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 5 November 2013 03:48 (eleven years ago)

How does Washington get banh mi?

chinavision!, Tuesday, 5 November 2013 03:59 (eleven years ago)

I guess Business Insider didn't give any state the classic barbecue (pulled/chopped smoked pork shoulder) because at least 2 or 3 states that didn't get it would pitch a fit.

WilliamC, Tuesday, 5 November 2013 04:06 (eleven years ago)

white barbecue sauce can go eff itself. get that mayo off my cue.

Atomized Laphroaig (get bent), Tuesday, 5 November 2013 06:17 (eleven years ago)

Michigan should be a pasty or a coney dog depending on which peninsula you're in, who cares about one place in ann arbor.

Never heard of the Illinois sandwich, "the Horseshoe."

Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 5 November 2013 12:42 (eleven years ago)

Yeah, scanning the comments:

The Horseshoe should NOT be the Illinois sandwich. It is a downstate thing, served only in a few southern Illinois towns. Most people in Chicago have never eaten it, or even heard of it, so who is the goof that chose it? Now, if they had chose Italian Beef, roasted in-house, sliced thin, served on Italian bread, and soaked with au jus, so you have to lean forward to eat it or risk juice running down your shirt, that might have made sense. Or a Chicago Dog, dragged through the garden, and NEVER having catsup near it.

Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 5 November 2013 12:44 (eleven years ago)

This is like a sequel to the silly Gawker/Deadspin/whatever post assigning a popular food to every state, which apparently got just about every state's popular food wrong in comically spectacular fashion.

Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 5 November 2013 12:45 (eleven years ago)

Leave it to a Chicagoan to try to make a hot dog the state sandwich.

pplains, Tuesday, 5 November 2013 14:13 (eleven years ago)

"with au jus"

Atomized Laphroaig (get bent), Tuesday, 5 November 2013 19:16 (eleven years ago)
