I'm really digging this show. Maybe I'm just a sucker for Samberg and Lo Truglio, but this show is pretty frickin' funny. Plus, Andre Braugher as the gay straight man is great in this too.

who said that every character was like a Parks and Rec knock-off, bc I can see that

kinder, Sunday, 2 February 2014 23:08 (eleven years ago)

well it was created by the parks and rec creators

Clay, Sunday, 2 February 2014 23:11 (eleven years ago)

man, i forgot until i was browsing his imdb page that braugher was just the lead in 'last resort' like a minute ago

ok i think this makes braugher's new role by far an adequate replacement for anything interesting he would have done on his submarine

I really like this show. To be sure, tis Scrubs meets the Office with cops, but I had actual lols a plenty. Samberg's a goof, but he's not irritating about it.

Goofy and cute, nothing groundbreaking but it's pretty enjoyable! Love Chelsea Peretti.

this show is not really anything special, and they blatantly stole a joke from a reality show btw, but andre braugher saying UNBALL THOSE BANDS got me p good

Didn't think I could still enjoy a simple sitcom like this - but this show definitely brings out the lolz.

I subscribed to Hulu Plus pretty much so I could watch this show because that is how much I love Andre Braugher and it has been totally worth it. I can give or take Andy Samberg but the rest of the cast is amazing. I think about this and how Terry says, "I'm holding coffee!" and chuckle probably twice/week:

If you haven't watch Chelsea Peretti's standup special, check it out! It is surreal, for real.

schwantz, Tuesday, 14 April 2015 15:38 (ten years ago)

she's great at voices - loved the bit about no make-up selfies

Chelsea is a national treasure. Her podcast is weird & awesome too- the Richard Marx ep is A+

finally getting around to chelsea peretti's standup show which is as great as everyone says

churlish to quibble but every now and again the aziz echoes are a little too loud for me (though maybe she invented that whole enraged deadpan 8-year-old steez for all i know)

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Wednesday, 3 February 2016 23:26 (nine years ago)

she's still funny to me. aziz had that one great standup special (intimate moments) but i haven't really liked anything of his since. tho tbf i haven't seen master of none + apparently people like it.

Mordy, Wednesday, 3 February 2016 23:53 (nine years ago)

they're both really funny! there's just this thing aziz does, that she does too, surprisingly difficult to describe, a kind of 'unfrozen caveman' persona they both adopt pretty much the same voice for

i would have gleefully watched a full hour of the spoof characters at the beginning

Season's been great. Surprised they've held up the quality over the network change and losing Gina. Can't get Andre spouting "CHONKY PUPS" out of my head.

First episode of the final season was super awkward. They're trying, I suppose. The second one with the Lake House was more their normal sort of thing but everyone feels a bit shaken. Like, everyone's a bit off rhythm or rusty, not even taking into the politics of the show.

Nhex, Monday, 16 August 2021 03:16 (three years ago)

It was handled a little too unnuanced but I appreciate theyre taking the trouble.

But FUUUUCK I am hating how IMDB gets brigaded into 1 star reviews EVERY TIME any show dares to do an ep on women, womens rights, black rights, BLM, covid, healthcare, etc etc.

Stoop Crone (Trayce), Wednesday, 18 August 2021 04:34 (three years ago)

At first I thoght the lols of ep 1 was gonna be theyd do the whole ep with everyone in masks so you couldnt understand a word.

Final season was okay. Felt like the last few had them really taking the “copaganda” thing to heart. Wasn’t super funny but at least the final episode was good. Mostly was distracted by Joe Lo Truglio’s hair…what exactly was going on up there??

werewolves of laudanum (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 7 February 2025 06:05 (four months ago)

watching all of this in a row has really heightened the comedy of holt, season after season, having to talk, undercover, so incredibly awkwardly, about womens' breasts

mookieproof, Friday, 14 February 2025 03:17 (three months ago)

(he and santiago would appreciate those commas)

kinder, Friday, 14 February 2025 20:36 (three months ago)

IMO it's one of the best sitcom performances ever. I absolutely love him in Homicide but he's ever so *slightly* hammy - it suits Pembleton, but it's still a bit actor-y. Then in B99 there's something weird and new happening -- like there's an Ella Fitzgerald-level perfection to every delivery, but it's not coldly technical -- he's always funny, loose, every line has just the right amount of spin, he shares the space beautifully with the cast, and you can't take your eyes off him.

also impressive that ever since (at least) cheers it has been considered death to let main sitcom characters stay together

but letting santiago and peralta be together worked so well and opened up avenues for new things . . . like a nakatomi plaza wedding cake

I just watched the first three seasons for the first time and
- it’s impressive how fast Dennis Duffy was able to become an nypd detective after getting out of the beeper game, though maybe it doesn’t reflect well on the department
-Hitchcock and scully together remind me of an old co-worker who was a really friendly guy who was fun to chat with for five minutes and helpful in certain areas, but who was very set in his routines and could absolutely not be trusted when good judgement and attention to detail were needed
- having Dennis Haysbert out-Holt Holt for a couple episodes was good gag casting
