Tigermilking - shameless (if belated) self-promotion

Hey chaps,

If anyone in London (or nearby) wants to come to Tigermilking tomorrow (um, today, in fact), we'd love to see you! At least FIVE past and present ILXers will be on the wheels of steel (a cabbage, an edna, a lixi, a vicky and a me), and if that isn't appealing,. I don't know what is...

Anyway - downstairs at Bar Oporto, £4/£3, Saturday 5th October, 6pm - 11pm (because of licence problems. But it just means start drinking earlier! Whoot!). The bar, unnamed outside but on the corner of High Holborn and Endell Street in Covent Garden, is very close to Tottenham Court Road/Covent Garden tubes.

Music = indiepop, indie, pop, pretty much anything that makes us happy. So are you coming? Are you? Huh?

Mark C (Mark C), Friday, 4 October 2002 22:39 (twenty-three years ago)

GO TO THIS! I was going to do a thread on it today, on DJ Lixi's behalf, but I fell asleep instead. But go to it, OK?

Tom (Groke), Friday, 4 October 2002 22:42 (twenty-three years ago)

Aaw, cheers Tom!

Mark C (Mark C), Friday, 4 October 2002 22:47 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm not coming though :( Cos I've not seen Isabel hardly at all this week (curse you CNN) and I promised I'd spend the weekend with her. But I hope some people from ILM go along in my place.

Tom (Groke), Friday, 4 October 2002 22:52 (twenty-three years ago)

Me too! Hope you have an ace weekend Tom, and I'm sure everyone'll be able to tell you all about what you missed :)

*Considers getting on a train*

Maybe.

No.

Maybe?

Oh fuck I actually am busy.

No then.

Graham (graham), Saturday, 5 October 2002 12:22 (twenty-three years ago)

With a name like Tigermilking, you just gotta know they're going to be playing a lot of Dokken and Winger.

Nicole (Nicole), Saturday, 5 October 2002 13:32 (twenty-three years ago)

What? No White Lion?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 5 October 2002 13:46 (twenty-three years ago)

tigertailz were the UK's premier hair metal band.

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 5 October 2002 15:59 (twenty-three years ago)

I'd just like to shout out some encouragement to potential Reporters Back. Half-remembered set-lists would be interesting, as well as encouraging to potential future punters...

I so like the 6pm start. Eat your heart out school disco!

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Sunday, 6 October 2002 08:16 (twenty-three years ago)

I liked the bit where Stevie's mis-burned CD-R started skipping, Cabbage shouted GLITCHCORE and we all started this jerky Germanic frugging.

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Sunday, 6 October 2002 09:14 (twenty-three years ago)

despite turning up v late i did get a sense of the spirit of the evening (unsurprisingly, v drunken), but who were all those ppl i didn't know????

i like the bit where mark forgot about the concept of the crossfader and there was five seconds of silence (apart from me shouting "call yerself a dj" obv ;))

apparently lixi played some rainbow...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 6 October 2002 12:17 (twenty-three years ago)

I don't think it was me, was it, Steve? I was *extremely* drunk, largely due to the presence of my incredibly lovely brother who kept plying me with booze (though partly helped too buy reminding me I hadn't eaten, and buying me dinner).

I also played the cheesiest pop set I've ever played. I think Pete Hahndorf left in disgust - i hope not, but I don't know if it was really his cup of tea.

As for the people you didn't know, Steve - they're the people who have given me a precious few more days out of bankruptcy - I really can't take a £60 loss every time I put on the bloody thing, and if they hadn't been there...

Oh. I played Le Tigre, Lipps Inc, The Sonics, Sylvester, T-Rex and... ach, it's no use. I can't remember the rest.

Mark C (Mark C), Sunday, 6 October 2002 20:05 (twenty-three years ago)

Sorry I didn't make it, I was all set up to come and practically out of the door when circumstances changed and it was probably best that I didn't come after all. Lixi did play Rainbow - courtesy of my grebtest air geetar album in the world... ever cd cheers cheers.

Sarah (starry), Monday, 7 October 2002 09:22 (twenty-three years ago)

Sadly my mis-burnt cd stopped my classic segue of Jane Wieldlin's 'Rush Hour' into Starship's 'We built this city on rock and roll' culminating in 'We want fun' chiz chiz... I also played Betty Boo's 'Where are you baby?', Toni Basil's 'Mickey', Daphne and Celeste's 'U.G.L.Y', 'Antmusic', Jennifer Paige's 'Crush', Pulp's 'Minnie Timperley' as well as some more schmindie fayre.

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Monday, 7 October 2002 09:34 (twenty-three years ago)

B*witched's version of 'Mickey' is better.

i watched bring it on on saturday! (starry), Monday, 7 October 2002 09:35 (twenty-three years ago)

Are these guys gonna show up to Tigermilking?

Sarah, I made you that rock CD!

jel -- (jel), Monday, 7 October 2002 09:53 (twenty-three years ago)

YAY! Top banana!!

Sarah (starry), Monday, 7 October 2002 09:57 (twenty-three years ago)

(PS: my hi-lite was Michael Jones and the Pinefox doing interpretative Morrissey Dancing to 'Stop me if you think you've heard this one before'. I believe photographic evidence of this exists somewhere).

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Monday, 7 October 2002 09:57 (twenty-three years ago)

I've seen Betty Boo live. It was everything you've ever dreamed of and more. I've been to Skegness too (can't be arsed going back to that thread).

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Monday, 7 October 2002 10:18 (twenty-three years ago)

haha i read that as michael JACKSON and pinefox (= take THAT schmindie!!)

mark s (mark s), Monday, 7 October 2002 10:25 (twenty-three years ago)

(in fact = take that REALITY!!)

mark s (mark s), Monday, 7 October 2002 10:26 (twenty-three years ago)

photos are urgent & key!

(also : thee glitchcore story is grebt!)

Ess Kay (esskay), Monday, 7 October 2002 13:18 (twenty-three years ago)

foxy has the digital photos that I took of Jonesy and Pinefox, I'll pester him to send them to someone who can host them.

I played some Northern soul, Danger High Voltage, some Ride (Chelsea girl iirc), The Drum by Impossibles too which I had no idea as to the background but Jonesy and Hopkins kept me informed and erm, some other stuff.

chris (chris), Monday, 7 October 2002 16:54 (twenty-three years ago)

The Drum by Impossibles
The original was by Slapp Happy (featuring Peter Blegvad and Dagmar Krause). Bongwater also did a versh, didn't they?

(PS: my hi-lite was Michael Jones and the Pinefox doing interpretative Morrissey Dancing to 'Stop me if you think you've heard this one before'. I believe photographic evidence of this exists somewhere)

This cries out to be posted.

Nicole (Nicole), Tuesday, 8 October 2002 11:25 (twenty-three years ago)

This cries out to be posted.

I'd advise against it.

Michael Jones' lawyer (MichaelJ), Tuesday, 8 October 2002 12:25 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh dear = had it not been for the "indiepop," "indie" or "pop" elements mentioned, I might have considered coming.

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 8 October 2002 12:33 (twenty-three years ago)

I did play Rainbow, even though I was asked to stop it. My set of uncompromising rock was um, rock. I hope the intentionally bad mixing was appreciated..

alix (alix), Thursday, 10 October 2002 15:18 (twenty-three years ago)

My reflective decal is doing its best to distract from my contorted face, but to no avail. I may look stupid, but music's an ugly blurt one frame at a time too - dancing is a dv/dt thang.

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Saturday, 12 October 2002 23:43 (twenty-three years ago)

dvda?

boxcubed (boxcubed), Saturday, 12 October 2002 23:58 (twenty-three years ago)
