"Stealing! How could you? Haven't you learned anything from that guy who gives those sermons at church? Captain What's-his-Name?! We live in a society of laws! Why do you think I took you to all those Police Academy movies?! For fun?! Well I didn't hear anybody laughin', did you?!"

OR

"When I first heard Marge was joining the police academy, I thought it'd be fun and exciting, you know, like that movie, Spaceballs? But instead it's painful and disturbing like that movie, Police Academy."

There are a few:

After Bart is caught stealing the video game, Homer draws the connections between religion and morality:
Homer: How could you?! Haven't you learned anything from that guy who gives those sermons at church? Captain Whatshisname? We live in a society of laws. Why do you think I took you to all those Police Academy movies? For fun? Well, I didn't hear anybody laughing! Did you?! Except at that guy who made sound effects. Where was I? Oh yeah: stay out of my booze.

Homer: Boy, when Marge first told me she was going to the police academy, I thought it'd be fun and exciting, you know, like that movie, "Spaceballs". But instead it's been painful and disturbing like that movie "Police Academy".
Barney: Hey Homer, I'm worried about the beer supply. After this case, and the other case, there's only one case left!
[pretending to be the other people in the room] Yeah, yeah!
Uh, Barney's right. Yeah, let's drink some more beer. Yeah! Hey, what about some beer? Yeah, Barney's right.
Homer: All right, guys, pipe down. I got some more in the garage.
Herman: [quickly] Uh, I'll, I'll get it for you, Homer.
Homer: Hmm. I wonder why he's so eager to go to the garage?
Moe: The "garage"? Hey fellas, the "garage"! Well, ooh la di da, Mr. French Man.
Homer: Well what do _you_ call it?
Moe: A car hole!

Young Homer and Young Marge are walking out of the movies, they're on a date, the poster behind them indicates they've just been to see "Police Academy".
Homer: Wow, that movie stinks! They'll never make another one of those!

jess (dubplatestyle), Saturday, 5 October 2002 13:13 (twenty-three years ago)

D'oh, you may have been faster than me, jess, but god damnit I was more accurate! (dang nabbit) ("Boy, what did I tell you?" "No talking like an 18th century prospector." "That's right," "C'on sarnit.")

Andrew (enneff), Saturday, 5 October 2002 13:13 (twenty-three years ago)

You wanted a breakdown of Police Academy films (not that I'm all that familiar with them)? You got 'it.

1984: Police Academy (with Kim Cattrall)
1985: Police Academy 2: Their First Assignment
1986: Police Academy 3: Back In Training
1987: Police Academy 4: Citizens On Patrol (with Sharon Stone)
(N.B. Steve Guttenberg jumped ship after this one)
1988: Police Academy 5: Assignment Miami Beach
1989: Police Academy 6: City Under Siege
1994: Police Academy 7: Mission To Moscow (with Christopher Lee)

Hope that helps.

one year passes...
I recently posted on I Love Film about this months DVD box set of al 7 films... woohoo!

P.S. After the first some of these movies may be of dodgy quality so proceed with caution.

P.P.S Steve Guttenberg wants to do Part 8!

is it a blackjack?

cutty (mcutt), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 19:13 (twenty-one years ago)

I thought the sticks policemen carried were called nightsticks or billy clubs.

St. Nicholas Ridiculous (Nick A.), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 19:24 (twenty-one years ago)

no, what captain harris has is not a nightstick. have you even seen a police academy movie?
