what's yr pain threshold?

woke up eighteen hours or so ago with my right shoulderblade feeling faultlined & the painkillers haven't worked - i've been debilitated/useless the entire day - near the end of the hour's walk back home my eyes swam, my feet dragged, my head lolled & my thoughts looped. haven't had the initiative to eat all that much, let alone write, reply to emails, tidy the house, try to find employment etc etc etc. been avoiding sleep & am terrified of the prospect of waking up tomorrow with my shoulder still fuxx0red.

so, er, are you tuff enuff? what throws you out of commission?

Physically I'm pretty tough, but mentally I can fall to pieces very easily. I think too much as well, and after a nights drinking session I can wake up and think about all the crap points in life and then I just stay in bed sulking and dreading the future.
One thing, I hate it when the house isn't tidy. Its like a huge metaphor for life, maybe.
On the brighter side, I had my first prostitute last night (hey I was really drunk) !!

Worst pain I ever had was a moving kidney stone. Absolute torture. If I were going through that again, and a doctor offered the choice of one more hour of that pain or instant death, I'd take death.

My pain threshold operates in reverse. I will gladly walk on a sprained ankle, but a cold will drive me nuts!

Labour pain. So bad that I will NEVER EVER do it again. Labour that is, not the other thing ;-)

Recently going 3 days with a collapsed lung before finally visiting GP left me with feeling 'well hard' (+ an idiot). response to subsequent surgery revealed this to be total self-delusion, it hurt like hell.

Hope you feel better soon Ess Kay

Can't wait for Saskia's tips on disciplining kids. "Do you know HOW MUCH PAIN you caused me being born! Now sit down and eat your peas." ;-)

A pain in a sensitive area recently was toughed out for about a day, but I made a doctor's appointment that evening. The following day, all was well after some minor surgery, yay.

yes saskia labour pain is SOMETHING ELSE.
i thought i had a pretty high pain threshold until labour hit full blast.
mind you, i would do it again if i had to. definately worth it.

When I had that kidney stone, the doctors told me that it was joint first in the pain league (they didn't say how this was constructed) with the worst childbirth. I have to assume that there is a wide range of pain there*, or no woman would ever go through it twice.

*As there is with kidney stones - I spent three or four days in hospital over this, and one guy had been getting some pain for almost that long - it was the intense, short-lived version I got, an hour or 90 minutes before they knocked me out, and when I woke a few hours later I was all better. I couldn't tell why I was kept in the ward thereafter, really.

unusually bad cramps, because i just can't think about or do anything else but curl up in a ball. (the threshhold had better rise though because someday, i'm going to have much worse pain.)

four years pass...

I experienced the worst pain I've ever felt at the weekend when I used my new Silkepil on my armpits.

Did my legs, fine.

Did my bikini line (after a few vodkas and a shot of sambuca, fine.

Started on my 'pits – OH MOTHER OF GOD HELP HELP GET THE POLICE SOMEONE IS BEING MURDERED IN THERE WHAT THE HOLY HELL LEVEL OF PAIN IS THIS?

Have any of you ever tried this? I thought I had quite a high pain threshold, I’m the kind of freak who enjoys getting tattoos but epilation of the underarms? Geez louise
