1. Did acting diploma and it taught me a lot, made me more aware/happier, got me believing in myself creatively, and writing too.
2. Finishing creative writing pieces for first time and having more ideas than ever.
3. Managed to keep my job with redundancies going around.
4. Lots more close friends, more time alone.
5. Happier than 2012 which was happier than 2011.

1. My mother had successful surgery on lobular breast cancer and it it was removed before it spread elsewhere and it has been identified as an oestrogen driven cancer so appropriate drugs have been given. Quick turnover from despair to happiness here and looking good.
2. My wife has had her diagnosis of MS/leukodystrophy altered to some kind of rare form of condition that the specialist bloke says will be named after her. Not exactly good news but at least lacking the certainty of a 100% MS/Leukodystrophy diagnosis.
3. Stopped smoking again and stuck to it this time.
4. Got back into speeding around council estate slopes on a kick scooter, thanks to my son. Fuck you world if you think we look ridiculous. I am only saying this because a teenage girl was laughing hard at us from a taxi last week and shouting "GANGSTA!".
5. Been enjoying abstaining from from drink then hitting the red at 10 pm and watching Luis Bunuel, torrent stuff from movie threads on here and some of the godamn brilliant American series from this year.
6. Fucked up year but it isn't defeating me, like it did last year.
7. Avalanche of great music this year, not just the new stuff but I developed a serious love for Thelonious Monk.

1. Had our monstrous 80 year old furnace (asbestos-wrapped!) removed. Replaced it with a heat pump system.
