do aliens have a sense of humour

When crop circles first appeared, the favoured explanations were:
i. Gaia trying to tell us something
ii. Otherworlders trying to tell us something
iii. This-world pranksters dicking about

So why couldn't it be gaia and/or aliens dicking about?

boring answer: yes yes bcz this-world believers in gaia and/or aliens have NO SENSE OF HUMOUR

but it does not follow that aliens or gaia wd not dick about: after all they have superior intelligence = they are playful surely

ps am i dumm or did the presence of the "signs" in the film signs make ABSOLUTELY EVEN LESS SENSE than how the aliens were defeated?

If crop circles are their sense of humour then it's a bunch of alien Russ Abbots or something, jesus christ save us from that.

haha i don't think that's entirely fair ronan!!

the joke is that we think "it is beautiful and clearly difficult to make" = "it is deep and meaningful"

(howevah since his failed hair implant russ abbott has circles on his head!!)

Maybe we should drop some banana skins on the moon.

yes, I saw a UFO once, and the aliens were just mooning people! It's a pretty juvenile sense of humour.

Crop circles are extraterrestrials' answer to installation art -- or John Cage's 4:33. They're deliberately devoid of intentional meaning: agricultural dada. The art occurs in the audience's -- that is to say, our -- reaction to it.

yes aliens have a sense of humour .
even a rock-thing with consciouness would find someting to laugh about ie: it cannot move so it has nothing to do but think, eventually something funny must occur, right?
right?

donna (donna), Monday, 7 October 2002 18:45 (twenty-three years ago)

someone told me, last week, "third rock from the sun is fantastic."

and they're all aliens, right? except the fat one from seinfeld, I think

I think rock beings from another world might find an earthquake the equivalent of someone slipping on a banana skin. Massive human death tolls would probably be a bonus.

I think that the existence of Las Ketchup indicates that aliens have a damn nice sense of humour. And aesthetics.

two years pass...
Aliens may have a sense of humor, but this guy does not.

i know there's a lot on but aren't we not discussing an important topic

Humor depends at some level on sensing incongruity and resolving it. Whether an alien being would resolve the tension of that incongruity through a sense of its being humorous is anyone's guess. Perhaps the aliens would rely on a mental heuristic that chose to ignore all but one of the incongruous elements they have been presented with, discarding the others as non-existent, making them inherently humor-blind

The Navy videos were leaked 2 years ago, so not especially newsworthy. My expectation is that they're all UAVs of terrestrial origin, and Skunk Work types are just fucking with naval aviator types.

But I'd love to be surprised and discover the Great Filter is behind us.

the important topic we’re not discussing is that tom delonge of blink-182 has played and continues to play a crucial role in proving that ufos are real
