We're planning on visiting Mauritius this year. In part, it is to see family. We'd also like to enjoy it as a "holiday."

Where's good to visit? Any hotel/accommodation recommendations? Anything to avoid?

Do your taxes while you're there

Family on Mauritius? How cool! A student worker here last year was on an extended undergraduate travel quarter via boat and they stopped in at Mauritius -- I was quite jealous, frankly! She said later it was a great time, though just a brief visit.

We did 2 weeks there, reasonably cheaply, in the days before kids.

Of course, they both want to go..

Avoid? Um, bathing on a 'secluded' beach a little away from yr hotel. Can't tell you why, just.. Don't.

(it was a 'not nice' experience, that's all I'm saying)

Apart from that, it's lovely, yeah.

Are there specific places you'd recommend going, Mark, or was it a go-to-the-beach holiday?

As you might surmise, it was a long time ago (amber is 15 now), but it's all good..

At one time there were only 6 pink pigeons in the world, and 2 were in M Zoo. We saw 2 more in some other zoo, so we had seen 66% of all the pink pigeons in the world at one time.

There's more of them now, but hey.

I remember doing the "Heavy diving helmet" thing, and blimey I even did windsurfing! Ohman!
