Can anyone beat Chuck Berry & My Ding A Ling for artist whose most popular song is actually the worst piece of shit they ever made?

brio, Monday, 13 January 2014 18:26 (eleven years ago)

brio, Monday, 13 January 2014 18:27 (eleven years ago)

I'm thinking "Bang on the Drum All Day" by Rundgren is a good candidate

frogbs, Monday, 13 January 2014 18:47 (eleven years ago)

it's Berry's highest charting single

xp

yeah - Ding A Ling was his biggest selling single - though you're probably right, more people probably know Johnny B Goode in the long run

Bang on the Drum is a good one

dodgy are srsly one of the better britpop landfill bands & to judge them on that abysmal misadventure is unfair

Not familiar with Pearl Jam's whole catalog but I'd wager Last Kiss is their worst song

Vinnie, Monday, 13 January 2014 22:07 (eleven years ago)

Even if it's not really their song

Vinnie, Monday, 13 January 2014 22:08 (eleven years ago)

No song that isn't on Ten could even be in the running for most popular Pearl Jam song.

Johnny Fever, Monday, 13 January 2014 23:21 (eleven years ago)

6 Underground is definitely the worst Sneaker Pimps song.

im not really a fan of them but sex on fire by kings of leon stands out. they are just a normal landfill band but the awkward song about getting an sti with MUUUUH SEEEX IS ON FIIIIIYAHHHHH shittiness is the one that ends up still being played every day on the national radio? gtfo

I seriously doubt that this song qualified for either of the criteria in the thread title.

I feel like I've heard this opinion expressed several times on ilm, and each time I listen to some of their songs on spotify I don't get it, I don't know if I find 'good enough' more tolerable than other people or find all other dodgy songs less tolerable, but it all sounds exactly the same to me?

I like Gene and the Bluetones though, maybe I just have bad taste in britpop

I always thought it would be fun (in a childish way) to pick a terrible one hit wonder, all of who's other songs no-one has heard, and make out to people that everything else they recorded was brilliant, but I guess people can could just check on youtube or spotify these days

The second half of Free Peace Sweet (starting with One Of Those Rivers) is worth a listen, some lovely songs there

Good Enough, fuck me that horn section. Murder.
