Fingers crossed for my car please

It's leaking coolant, but NOT from the rad or any hoses. The thermostat was sticking last week causing it to run hot, and the rad boiled over. Easily fixed, BUT - I think the water's coming out of a crack in the engine block which spells doom. I have been underneath and can't really figure it out, so tomorrow = garage. If the repair bill is too large I will have to think about replacing the car, as I fear this will be the first of many such bills - the clutch is on it's way too.

So after 87,000 miles will it be the end of my faithful motor? Keep your eyes on this thread for the latest installment.

Best of luck, Dr. C. I'm getting this terrible hissing sound with my car, I hope it's just some cheap, easy to fix brake problem. Only 245,000 miles on it, though, ha ha, who knows what it is?

Dr C, very, very good luck. though it's worth doing the sums about getting a new one anyway, i'd guess.

This car of Dr. C must be revived. We will send it powerful Terrastock vibes to run groovily.

That does sound like the engine block*, doc. Good luck!

*bear in mind that I can barely cope with inflating a car's tyres or putting petrol in it, but I am quite good at peering at things, sucking my teeth and shaking my head, so you should take me seriously.

Thanks everyone. It was the water pump! £118, which is painful, but not too bad.

We live to motor on.
