Audrey Hepburn. Was interested in what kind of Grammy she won--an album produced by Deborah Raffin.

Goldberg and Rudin are the indefensible votes

will wait for Owen P to get the OT

eclectic husbandry (Dr Morbius), Monday, 20 January 2014 04:55 (eleven years ago)

rudin's as a producer which really shouldn't remotely count. you signed four different checks big fucking deal.

grammy is where the funny business comes in w/ audiobooks, etc (eg that audrey hepburn one awarded the grammys after her death). brooks won for 'music video' on some behind the scenes thing of the broadway version of the producers. nichols won for nichols and may so of the non-musical types up there his is most legit (imo) and arguably represents the best thing he was ever associated w/ (ie elaine may).

Totally. That's why I voted for a musician, because that's the much more difficult route to EGOTting.

Alfre, Lord Woodard (Eric H.), Monday, 20 January 2014 13:36 (eleven years ago)

uh, Mel Brooks won his Grammy for a 2000 rehash of maybe the greatest comedy album of all time, which he should've won for in the first place.

So a reminder: awards suck.

eclectic husbandry (Dr Morbius), Monday, 20 January 2014 14:18 (eleven years ago)

awards do suck, i'm voting for Richard Rodgers anyway

can't believe people like things (Noodle Vague), Monday, 20 January 2014 14:24 (eleven years ago)

well, sure!

eclectic husbandry (Dr Morbius), Monday, 20 January 2014 14:27 (eleven years ago)

i knew Tunick was a big Broadway orchestrator, but his Tony was for Titanic the musical and the Emmy for Night of 100 Stars, so eff him.

eclectic husbandry (Dr Morbius), Monday, 20 January 2014 14:48 (eleven years ago)

ok i figured brooks might've won for 2000 yr old man, i just saw the 'best long form music video' one. he also won one for the producers soundtrack.

balls, Monday, 20 January 2014 14:51 (eleven years ago)

newhart won it over brooks and reiner in 61, nichols and may in 62, carlin in 73. looking at it the grammy for best comedy album looks shockingly non disgraceful, at least until mork starts churning them out.

yeah the bottom drops out in the 90s, i guess a reflection of what happened w/ comedy albums in general around then.
