Actual answer is the use of the word "Britishes" on ILX. is it meant to be cute? endearing? funny?

the Shearer of simulated snowsex etc. (Dwight Yorke), Friday, 24 January 2014 11:24 (eleven years ago)

duly noted

Fuckin options man options

I like children but if there was an option for parents, eeeesh

gelatinate mess (darraghmac), Friday, 24 January 2014 11:36 (eleven years ago)

People doing anything in public that brings them to my attention, partic enclosed space, partic noise, partic 'music'.

gelatinate mess (darraghmac), Friday, 24 January 2014 11:38 (eleven years ago)

Tie between "people listening to music without headphones on the bus" and "children" because everything else is fairly easily ignored.

But children mostly eventually grow up, and people who listen to music without headphones on the bus never stop being massive inconsiderate twunts and dear god I hate them so yeah, that.

People listening to music without headphones on the bus

^ would never do it myself, but is it wrong that i actually enjoy this when it happens?

tench and pike, scaup and snipe (NickB), Friday, 24 January 2014 11:42 (eleven years ago)

People who bring mcdonalds on the bus are far, far worse btw

tench and pike, scaup and snipe (NickB), Friday, 24 January 2014 11:43 (eleven years ago)

Going by that list though:

U2 - As much of a tosser as Bono is, I have no genuine animosity towards to band or their output or the idea of U2.
Clowns - Can see why people are scared of them, find them repulsive myself, fail on any level to see the comedic aspect of them. A contender.
Misplaced apostrophes - Genuine hatred for people who get annoyed at stuff like this. Would revel in the lives of every member of the Apostrophe Protection Society being marked by tragedy.
Headphoneless Busjams - Yeah this is shit.
Amanda Palmer - She's a bit of a tit but I can't bring myself to care enough about her to
Mrs Browns Boys - "Not for me" is all anyone who doesn't like this should be able to muster tbh. So yeah, not for me.
Memes - all of them are shit so anyone who laughs is a cunt
Children - children are rad

the Shearer of simulated snowsex etc. (Dwight Yorke), Friday, 24 January 2014 11:46 (eleven years ago)

I don't know if it's the Morley's or the Chicken Cottage by the Brixton police station stop that make the chicken that smells SO BAD but that is way worse on the bus than even McDonalds.

while you were learning the right place to put apostrophes the apostrophe-misusing guy on the fruit and veg stall was learning about how to buy and sell good produce that keeps you healthy and doesn't poison you or make you die. think abt it

YES. or any food that smells

lex pretend, Friday, 24 January 2014 12:14 (eleven years ago)

U2 - obviously terrible and need to be executed but I don't feel the need to expend vocal hate on them b/c there are enough people to do this already
Clowns - don't find clowns amusing or scary or funny or anything
Misplaced apostrophes - i used to be a huge grammar nazi but that's nagl ultimately. mild irritation only these days
People listening to music without headphones on the bus - i am pro-sodcasting and enjoy it whenever i happen upon it (a lot less these days)
Amanda Palmer - for all her attention-seeking irritant qualities she's pretty easily ignored
The television show Mrs Brown's Boys (Britishes/Irishes interest only) - never heard of this
People being volubly amused by outdated memes - I HATED THE MEMES IN THE FIRST PLACE AND I HATE THIS AND YOUUUUUUU
Children - haha i genuinely hate strangers' children in public, this prob makes me a terrible person. just keep them quiet and out of my way ffs. have to do deep breathing every time i encounter a screaming baby/toddler on the bus because i know it's not really on to get THAT annoyed by them. i do like my friends' children for 10 minutes max at a time! god why do people have them though

lex pretend, Friday, 24 January 2014 12:20 (eleven years ago)

my vote goes to the memes obv

lex pretend, Friday, 24 January 2014 12:20 (eleven years ago)

serious trouble deciding between amanda palmer and u2. voted amanda palmer but if bono had been the choice it would have been bono.

Voted Britishes

, Friday, 24 January 2014 12:28 (eleven years ago)

bono is covered by the second option fyi xp

tench and pike, scaup and snipe (NickB), Friday, 24 January 2014 12:28 (eleven years ago)

sodcasting seems to no longer be a thing, at least judging by my 12yrs of experience of using London buses. Did sodcasters realise how much this got peoples backs up and, as a class, decided to stop?

Kim Wrong-un (Neil S), Friday, 24 January 2014 12:29 (eleven years ago)

they bought headphones.

he said, even sexilyer, (dog latin), Friday, 24 January 2014 12:31 (eleven years ago)

ubiquity of cheapo phone headphones more likely I think

Kim Wrong-un (Neil S), Friday, 24 January 2014 12:32 (eleven years ago)

i love sodcasting, but i don't really take the bus a lot. will happily walk/cycle around with my minirig in my rucksack so long as i'm not in a built up area.

he said, even sexilyer, (dog latin), Friday, 24 January 2014 12:32 (eleven years ago)

wonder if there are ppl who advocate a food equivalent of sodcasting

wilful brony (DJ Mencap), Friday, 24 January 2014 12:35 (eleven years ago)

I got spattered with tomato ketchup from a burst sachet on a bus in Manchester once, does that count?

Kim Wrong-un (Neil S), Friday, 24 January 2014 12:36 (eleven years ago)

U2 - quite like Achtung Baby and other bits; dislike them as a band, though.
Clowns - creepy and weird, but I don't hate or fear them.
Misplaced apostrophes - I'm a copywriter, so they bug me, but there are worse grammar sins.
People listening to music without headphones on the bus - don't use buses or trains very much at all, so not really on my radar; used to HATEHATEHATE though.
Amanda Palmer - not really on my radar.
The television show Mrs Brown's Boys (Britishes/Irishes interest only) - this won a best comedy award the other day, wtf? Have only seen the odd moment of it but it made me want to experience total nuclear annihilation of the planet.
People being volubly amused by outdated memes - badgerbadgerbadgerbadgerbadgerbadger. If it annoys Lex, I'm pro it.
Children - quite like them. Wouldn't mind having one.

Voted Mrs Brown's Boys.

Being a pedant about grammar & stuff can be fuckin funny tho as long as you realise that you're the one who looks ridiculous, this is why Stewart lee in 2013 is funnier than Stewart lee in 1996

People listening to music without headphones on the bus

Is this a London thing? I get the bus and/or the train nearly every day and I think I've only witnessed this about twice.
(I enjoyed it, but I guess it might be annoying if it was a regular thing? People watching movies on their laptops w/out headphones on intercity trains is a far more pernicious phenomenon, in my opinion)

Clowns die

I am going with children because the idea of an extra 5 billion shitting arseholes stressing out this dying biosphere is even more moribund than contemplating Bono's 120th birthday party.

xelab, Friday, 24 January 2014 20:13 (eleven years ago)

I'm ok with children that sit quietly in the corner reading a book or something, don't like the boisterous ones.
Watching Mrs Brown's Boys makes me feel the way I guess that lex feels when watching all comedy, just increasingly baffled and angry.
I sort of like Amanda Palmer.
Clowns are great.

Dolly Dilly Dally (soref), Friday, 24 January 2014 21:17 (eleven years ago)

I'm not a nazi but I voted apostrophes because none of the other things could get me fired.

something of an astrological coup (tipsy mothra), Friday, 24 January 2014 21:51 (eleven years ago)

(I mean, I suppose if I brought clowns or Amanda Palmer to work, it might turn out badly. But who can say?)

System, Thursday, 30 January 2014 00:01 (eleven years ago)

Gotta admit, I voted U2 on this.

U2 - horrible band, horrible fans.

Clowns - feel neutral: some are good, some are bad. I don't care about clowns.

Misplaced apostrophes - as someone who's paid to be an expert on this shit, I don't mind misplaced apostrophes. People who complain about them invariably make more terrible mistakes.

People listening to music without headphones on the bus - as an old person, I don't wanna fight youth. I would've done this if I could've. It's a bit annoying but so what.

Amanda Palmer - she's annoying, but not relevant to life. You have to be on the internet 24/7 to care or hum her latest song.

The television show Mrs Brown's Boys (Britishes/Irishes interest only) - I'm British but don't know anything about this.

People being volubly amused by outdated memes - I prefer people who don't know which memes are outdated over those who do. I don't want to know anyone who talks in terms of memes in fact. Gives me the boke.

Children - often turn into interesting people. Often don't. They are neutral objects for the time being.

People listening to music without headphones on the bus -- haven't heard
Amanda Palmer -- could be worse
The television show Mrs Brown's Boys (Britishes/Irishes interest only) -- haven't heard
People being volubly amused by outdated memes -- my summer jam
Children -- ok, but i probably wouldn't listen at home
