The one most willing to tie him up and put a ball gag in that asshole's mouth.

Murgatroid, Sunday, 26 January 2014 18:48 (eleven years ago)

I've only heard the Letterman episode (which I think is a little overrated?).

Something in me wanted to hear Andrew McCarthy next, which I thought was a little weird, which prompted me to make this poll.

Dunno maybe it's about me getting older or in ways feeling alittle diminished career-wise, or maybe I just like AMac, or feeling nostalgic. Can't place it.

Also I don't know at east a dozen of these ppl.

xpost lol

probably Stacy keach, I feel like he'd have some good stories to tell. he gives off a bit of a "most interesting man in the world" thing.

I wonder if Maron pisses himself whenever Lorne Michaels deigns to do someone else's podcast.

From the comments on the Elaine Stritch episode

His tendency to over-empathize with his guests ("me too!"), especially with other performers, gets in the way of our discovery of his interviewees because we continually have to hear another Alecdote that is supposed to bring him closer to his subject, yet ends up estranging us at the same time.

This show should immediately be re-titled 'Alecdotes' imo

(double meaning as well, 'alec-dotes')

There are transcripts of the interviews on the website, I think I would rather read the transcripts than listen to the recordings

Thom Yorke: Well then it was – I was obsessed with Aphex Twin then, and Autechre, there was a lot of really interesting things happening in Britain then on this label called Warp.

Alec Baldwin: How do you spell that?

Thom Yorke: Warp, as in –

Alec Baldwin: Warp, W-A-R-P? Like ‘The floor is warped after the flood?'

Thom Yorke: Yeah.

Alec Baldwin: I must say, with your accent that could have been any one of four words. When you said, ‘On this label called Warp.'

Thom Yorke: Warp.

Alec Baldwin: Warp? Warm? Wall?

Thom Yorke: Warp. Warp.

Alec Baldwin: Yeah. [Affects southern accent] Say it like we say it here in the United States.

Thom Yorke: [Affects southern accent] Warp. It's a County & Western record label.

Alec Baldwin: You bet yer bottom dollar there, boy. So you were obsessed with the music that was on Warp.

Letterman, followed by Stiglitz, Mehta, Osborne, Abramson, and McCarthy, not necessarily in that order
