I know ILX nourishes in its collective heart a seething cauldron of hatred toward both of these, but remember that you only live once, so keep calm & carry on as you vote for the worst hated of the two.

How dare you tarnish the reputation of Turturro's yodel (Shakey Mo Collier), Wednesday, 26 February 2014 21:02 (eleven years ago)

oh right

yeah I hate that. why has that come into vogue again, assumed it was some Downton Abbey thing or something

How dare you tarnish the reputation of Turturro's yodel (Shakey Mo Collier), Wednesday, 26 February 2014 21:02 (eleven years ago)

i had no idea ilx had any feelings at all towards these

YOLO is great, KCCO is bullshit, it's a no-brainer

The Buzzing of Summer Tweets (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 27 February 2014 07:10 (eleven years ago)

I see yolo espoused as an excuse for more stupidity, kcco is just a teatowel

The Buzzing of Summer Tweets (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 27 February 2014 07:33 (eleven years ago)

why has that come into vogue again

when did it go out?

Downtown Abbey is set pre-WWI afaik and the Keep Calm poster was discovered in 2000 btw

I got the Poison, I got the Rammellzee (sic), Thursday, 27 February 2014 08:15 (eleven years ago)

First saw KCCO on a mug at a friends house in... 2007. Think I smirked and said huh that's kind of funny, then forgot about it till a few months later it suddenly appeared everywhere. Technique of Illuminati mind control imo

UK Cop Humour (Bananaman Begins), Thursday, 27 February 2014 10:52 (eleven years ago)

If my dad took me aside one day and said "son, you only live once", I would think despite the cliché that it was sweet how he wanted me to make the best of my life, and that maybe he was thinking of all the chances he could have taken and didn't. I would appreciate his clumsy and futile attempt to try and keep me from living a life full of regret, and even as I rolled my eyes I'd find it a little touching.

If my dad took me aside and said "son, keep calm and carry on", I would punch him in the nuts and we would never speak again.

YOLO is just dumb, KCCO is everything wrong with modern Britain

What is wrong with songs? Absolutely nothing. Songs are great. (DL), Thursday, 27 February 2014 12:59 (eleven years ago)

EWWMB is the new KCCO tbh

― how's life, Thursday, February 27, 2014 11:24 AM (4 hours ago)

Yep. I have never seen Keep Calm & Carry On abbreviated as such. If it's KCCO, it's the Chive. And I hate that I spend so much time on the internet I have an opinion on this.

chive on you crazy diamond

diamonddave85‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌ (diamonddave85), Thursday, 27 February 2014 16:21 (eleven years ago)

tbh Chive or Carry it's equally vile

The Buzzing of Summer Tweets (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 27 February 2014 16:23 (eleven years ago)

P. sure nobody has ever texted someone "KCCO!" and immediately died in a drunk driving accident, therefore the answer is "YOLO."

P. sure nobody has ever texted someone "KCCO!" and immediately died in a drunk driving accident,

pretty sure the number of semi-hilarious epitaphs it will form is another point in YOLO's favour

The Buzzing of Summer Tweets (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 27 February 2014 16:36 (eleven years ago)

YOLO inspired (albeit by being flipped) a great MIA song. Keep Calm and Carry On inspired a Stereophonics album.

What is wrong with songs? Absolutely nothing. Songs are great. (DL), Thursday, 27 February 2014 16:38 (eleven years ago)

Xp I have literally never heard of that before and I don't thank you for educating me

kcco is depressing as fuck, long live yolo

brimstead, Thursday, 27 February 2014 18:42 (eleven years ago)

some of the worst people I know use YOLO unironically all the time

KCCO used by interweb dorks once in a while

no contest at all imo, voted YOLO

it is not, so the latter

i don't even know what this Chive thing is, but the moment that the shitty nostalgic Keep Calm shit started merging with the awful anglophile Nu-Who shit was my hulk smashing moment.

Bipolar Sumner (Branwell Bell), Friday, 28 February 2014 10:13 (eleven years ago)

From skimming that awl thing I learned that chives is this repository of shit memes on the internet for people who think that kooky variations of "keep calm & carry on" are cool, it's good to be alive in 2014

The Edge - why is he so bald and hatted? (wins), Friday, 28 February 2014 10:40 (eleven years ago)

t's good to be alive in 2014
is this sentiment a sign of the chive?

we slowly invented brains (La Lechera), Friday, 28 February 2014 15:46 (eleven years ago)

I don't know anybody IRL who says either of these things.
But YOLO is funny to me whereas people have adapted KCCO into so many dumb, dumb things so I voted for KCCO.

Full disclosure: when the KCCO thing first surfaced, I bought my mom, who was dealing with a lot of bullshit job stress, a KCCO pin, which she liked very much and wore on her jacket.

we slowly invented brains (La Lechera), Friday, 28 February 2014 18:29 (eleven years ago)

I just realized that my posting of Mr. Efron's amazing YOLO tattoo could be read to suggest I hate YOLO the most (ok really I just read the thread wrong) and wanted it to be clear that KCCO is the most horrible thing ever besides celery while YOLO can be hilarious. In short - I hate KCCO the most.

yolo hate is especially bizarre to me cause i feel like there was maybe 10 minutes before its usage became 100% ironic/making fun of people who say it/besides zac efron

which is definitely way more annoying than KCCO tbh

YOLO is bullshit pop materialist propoganda distilled to a single nihilistic phrase.

KCCO I have no idea what that means is it a British thing?

brimstead, Saturday, 1 March 2014 19:17 (eleven years ago)

The news stories and bizarre human story reports there are quite mesmerizing, and the photos of bikini-clad women and muscular men are definitely motivating for readers. The storytelling and human experience that is shared at The Chive make it a very resonant place for people to experience their world vicariously.

http://www.bbc.com/news/education-32996327

"Protecting young people from the dangers of radicalisation requires positive online counter-extremism, and empowering teachers with technology like Impero's keyword library is an important part of this process."

Sally-Ann Griffiths, of Impero Software, which designed the program, said: "With a widely reported increase in the number of children being radicalised, it's vital that schools put measures in place to prevent pupils coming to harm online.

"By defining terms such as 'yodo', a phrase used by jihadist sympathisers meaning 'you only die once', the glossary gives teachers, who are part of the solution to the problem, the tools they need to identify, intervene and safeguard at-risk pupils."
