Semper Fi Oorah Bear Gryls Can Suck It etc: crazy survivalist TV show DUDE YOU'RE SCREWED

I don't even know if anyone else watches this show (Animal Planet/Discovery)...this might sit in SNA forever but you guys! this show kinda rules!
A Green Beret, Army Scout, RAF, Navy Seal & a primitive survivalist kidnap each other & drop into crazy batshit locales with 100 hours to 'survive' & get to some kind of prearranged drop point that the kidnappee knows nothing about. No real chance of death what with a camera-dude tagging along & vitals being remotely monitored...they make a bit of a meal out of minor dramas but it's not too OTT. The thing I like about it is their survival skills are pretty legit, it's really cool to see the shit they come up with & you learn a wee bit about the psychology of survival, which I'm kind of into.

Jake the Navy Seal is a toolbag. I have a crush on Terry the Green Beret.

This fills the hole that Doomsday Preppers was supposed to fill. I like this show way better. What say you?

I go out and hike long distances in wilderness by myself. The appeal of almost all these 'reality' shows is that there is no realistic content in them whatsoever.

The only exception I would make is Les Stroud in Survivorman, in that he goes to truly remote wilderness, is entirely alone out there (he acts as his own camera crew), brings only minimal resources, and eats only what he can forage. The majority of the drama comes from him facing starvation, dehydration, and hypothermia as he slowly makes his way to safety. This is realistic.

Have you watched any eps of this show, Aimless?

If there's one thing ILX has taught me is that Veg and I share like the exact same taste in reality tv so maybe I should check this out.

I guess? idk. I just like non-annoying ppl to laugh at/with #simplepleasures

though I think ppl do scrutinize survival shows a bit more, because the stakes are perceived to be somewhat higher than sew a dress: win a car, lol
