[ADMIN] ILX Funding 2014

You might have noticed that we haven't had Google Ads for a few weeks now. Unfortunately they disabled them due to NSFW threads on the site. They've done this intermittently before, but changing the code so that ads were only shown on ILE/ILM threads that aren't marked NSFW fixed it those times.

Unfortunately they've rejected the last few appeals, complaining even about threads that don't have any ads on them. There's still one on-going, but I'm less and less hopeful they'll allow us back in this time.

If they don't, we'll have to work out funding again ourselves, unfortunately. Amazon recently cut their prices, which is a help. The yearly fee (which I paid the day before they suspended ads this time!) is £400, and our monthly charges are about £80. So for a whole year without ads we'd need £1400.

We could try another fundraiser if people think that'd work, or if anyone has deep pockets please let me know. We don't need to do anything yet, but might need to start planning in case we have to.

The fundraiser thing has worked impressively in the past. It's a bummer about the Google Ads though.

Fundraiser is A-OK. It has always taken less than 24 hours to raise the money. And I've slowly accustomed myself to Mordy's gold star.

Yep, more grief from Google today. Have looked into the alternatives - clicksor has a reputation for sending malware, so they're out. Media.net have a similar "no adult material" content, so they're out too. Have put chikita ads on. First few I've seen are ugggly, but let's see how they do.
