Everyone soon twice as smart

This company http://www.cortexpharm.com/ has succesfully tested a drug that improves a normal person's memory by 100%. What will happen to culture once drugs like this are available? The job market.
Who's going to be a domestic or a sanitation worker when ANYONE can learn to be a doctor or lawyer in a fraction of the time it takes now?

forget the job market - how long til this gets into the water system and the sharks get hyper-intelligent like in the deep blue sea movie?? when they start thinking about making for land we're all fuX0red

We're going to need that drug in order to remember the names of the new drugs they keep coming up with. For instance, this one that I saw yesterday. It appears not to be a typo.

are these like nootropics? i believe they sell these already in the netherlands? i've heard about 25% memory enhancement and better associative skills as a result of these

there is a huge diff between memory and intelligence. having an expanded memory doesn't make you smarter. as far as i know, the drugs they're developing do help strengthen synaptic connections and are still in an experimental stage, and they're gonna be for restoring, not augmenting, some of the memory issues in aging people with progressive dementia problems. not for the general public, i'm guessing.

I want a drug that'll speed my brain up ridiculously so that everything appears to be going in slow motion. That'd be so much fun.

Does anyone know what Smart Drugs were? I remember reading about them years ago in some cyberpunk type book, and no it wasn't a fictional book. I never really investigated at the time.
