option #4 -- it's not great and i never skip it.

It sucks and I always skip it on the rare occasions when I can even stand to listen to Maron in the interview portion.

because sometimes it's interesting and contributes to my enjoyment of the podcast as a series, and also i have a thing about not skipping parts of things.

xp

Yeah, #4.

I love skipping things

So not great. Some day I'm gonna crash my car from fiddling with my ipod wheel while driving.

wouldn't "ambivalent" cover option #4?

Brio2, Friday, 6 June 2014 18:01 (ten years ago) link

Always skip. Always.

They're usually bad, but it was sometimes fun to hear him complain about how the interview went. I think he took some flak for that after the Nick Cave and John Cale shows, so now he just says stuff like "it was a nice chat" or "he's a very charming fellow."

relentlessly pecking at peace (President Keyes), Friday, 6 June 2014 18:21 (ten years ago) link

I remember when I first heard him do these, he was always talking about having his deck re-done, and then he flipped out when some people on twitter pointed out that it was kind of inane.

relentlessly pecking at peace (President Keyes), Friday, 6 June 2014 18:24 (ten years ago) link

I think he has publicly flipped out at reviewers and others who have dared to suggest the intro was skippable in the past. I always skip, but I don't want him to stop doing them. If he didn't have a little Marc time at the beginning of the show there would be even more talk about tube amps and snacks and ailments in the interviews.

immediately skipped this morning as soon as he said he was going to talk about his cock

Brio2, Thursday, 26 June 2014 16:09 (ten years ago) link

in order to prove our point, Maron's first intro after these results was about having his pants' pocket fixed and burning his dick with a match

I like the ones that come to a dead stop and are just..."God..what am I doing?"

I only listen to the intros, almost never the interviews themselves

it actually didn't occur to me that anyone would do that.

Brio2, Thursday, 26 June 2014 17:06 (ten years ago) link

I guess I can understand just listening to the interviews, but I also think, without the pre-acclimation and slow immersion into Maron's brain, that I could see myself hating his interviews/interview style (which happens from time to time anyway).

Love Theme From Meatballs 2 (Old Lunch), Thursday, 26 June 2014 17:13 (ten years ago) link

well, yeah, I guess when he tries to finish people's sentences or appears to not be listening to his guests, you can just think "at least he's not burning his dick."

Cosign on this.

I give things a couple minutes to see where he's going before I decide to fast-forward or not. I still love "What the Fuckminster Fuller?"

Elvis Telecom, Thursday, 26 June 2014 17:39 (ten years ago) link

i admit i like hearing him talk about eating good food and not feeling good about it.

OTM, this has been my favorite addition.
