I admitted on the other thread that forgetting Uffie was a big mistake. including MIA would've been just too easy a way to rile people up, though, and besides as far as i know she doesn't rap about sex. does she even rap?

i hate even thinking about it cuz i feel like i'm just being a grumpy fun-hater, but man, i dunno. it just seems like it sucks really bad. but i don't even want to think about it, there's no good way to describe how it sucks w/o seeming like a grouch (and zion i)

M@tt He1ges0n, Wednesday, 2 April 2008 18:37 (sixteen years ago) link

heard OF spank rock but the rest of these names are news to me

gff, Wednesday, 2 April 2008 18:38 (sixteen years ago) link

it's not the fun I hate, it's the people who are having it

Alex in Baltimore, Wednesday, 2 April 2008 18:38 (sixteen years ago) link

the shit gives me a rocky horror picture show vibe, like hedonism w/audience participation, and the audience is always annoying.

omar little, Wednesday, 2 April 2008 18:38 (sixteen years ago) link

there is so much of this music now you cant really contain it in a poll

jhøshea, Wednesday, 2 April 2008 18:40 (sixteen years ago) link

Alex in Baltimore, Wednesday, 2 April 2008 18:41 (sixteen years ago) link

this type of shit dominates half of the l.a. music venues these days. and every single music fest i can think of is top-heavy with this and dj acts that cop a similar style.

Alex in Baltimore, Wednesday, 2 April 2008 19:16 (sixteen years ago) link

i liked that spank rock album. not that i played it more than twice, but that's one more time than most things i get in the mail. i did not like that chromeo album though. um, not that anyone was talking about chromeo. i've never heard the rest of this stuff. i don't feel like i'm missing much. kinda like all the electroclash stuff i never heard. hey, i bought a chicks on speed album. i did my time.

"turn down the fucking treble"

thi goes for all that justice-y stuff. ouch! that shit hurts my ears big time.

Whiney G. Weingarten, Wednesday, 2 April 2008 20:01 (sixteen years ago) link

they're not getting lumped in! they'll have their own seperate poll as soon as we figure out who else to lump them in with! Whiney I know you got the goods, help me figure out the list.

Most of these guys are pretty bad, but for awhile they were bringing something new to the game, you know? I mean, now it's all a bunch of kids doing what the first guy already did, but when those first Spank Rock joints came out the club was feeling them.

Kid Sister is horrific, but then i was never really clear on whether we were voting for the best or worst, so i'm not sure if i'm mad she won. i voted for Pase Rock just because i think it's hilarious that Spank Rock would have a copycat buddy with almost the same name, and that disgusting video w/ lindsay lohan's talking vagina was kind of funny.

Alex in Baltimore, Thursday, 17 April 2008 00:07 (sixteen years ago) link

I love many of these acts.

Spencer Chow, Thursday, 17 April 2008 01:15 (sixteen years ago) link

al shipley why is kid sister "horrific"?

and what, Thursday, 17 April 2008 01:20 (sixteen years ago) link

i feel like vahid when he realized justice were "real dance" but seriously in no way is her shit so offensive that it calls for that

and what, Thursday, 17 April 2008 01:21 (sixteen years ago) link

especially from a dude who rides for cex & grand buffet

and what, Thursday, 17 April 2008 01:21 (sixteen years ago) link

i know youre gonna get all ;_; why u cheapshot about that but for real

and what, Thursday, 17 April 2008 01:21 (sixteen years ago) link

i dunno shit is just way obnoxious to me, the fact that it's a little slicker and gets played on MTV irritates me more than the stuff that's only on my radar because I look at blogs too much or because some herbs think Spank Rock is Baltimore club.

Alex in Baltimore, Thursday, 17 April 2008 01:24 (sixteen years ago) link

and really i just hate her voice.

Alex in Baltimore, Thursday, 17 April 2008 01:25 (sixteen years ago) link

i think its fun but diffr'nt strokes :D

and what, Thursday, 17 April 2008 01:30 (sixteen years ago) link

I don't think Spank Rock is "real" Baltimore club but "Bump" is a great track. Amanda Blank is great in many ways - her rapping "live" is much better than the more subdued recordings and I *really* like her new "sung" tracks - really beautiful actually. "Pro Nails" is a GREAT track, not sure how just the music itself can be "horrific". Maybe there's something annoying in her cred or whatever (and that kind of thing sometimes affects me), but I don't understand it.

Spencer Chow, Thursday, 17 April 2008 02:23 (sixteen years ago) link

Yelle, who is also GREAT, should probably be in this discussion too.
