Spoke through Feast of Wire Calexico is one of my favorite bands ever. From there onward is just a band I really like.

not saying it's notable, just saying the idea of country inflected indie neither intrigues nor horrifies me enough to bother

YES

saw this a few months ago and yes. yesyesyes.

smexy fishy hawt joey martin (acoleuthic), Sunday, 19 December 2010 21:18 (thirteen years ago) link

first track of 'foxtrot yankee hotel' or whatever the hell this is called wasn't what i expected, but track two pretty much is, i.e. inconsequential blah blah indie guitar music

moholy-nagl (history mayne), Sunday, 19 December 2010 21:19 (thirteen years ago) link

RIP Wilco

markers, Sunday, 19 December 2010 21:20 (thirteen years ago) link

first track of that album is pretty much the best thing they ever did, along with 'poor places', 'handshake drugs' and 'less than you think'

maybe 'muzzle of bees' too if I'm feeling generous

[/madness]

smexy fishy hawt joey martin (acoleuthic), Sunday, 19 December 2010 21:21 (thirteen years ago) link

track three even worse

hoo boy, not sure if we're gonna work out, you and me, wilco

moholy-nagl (history mayne), Sunday, 19 December 2010 21:22 (thirteen years ago) link

why are wilco good markers?

No Wicked Heart Shall Prosper.rar (nakhchivan), Sunday, 19 December 2010 21:22 (thirteen years ago) link

im really bad at explaining why I like the stuff I like, so I really think itd be best if I didnt even try

markers, Sunday, 19 December 2010 21:24 (thirteen years ago) link

that started promisingly but it was actually a spotify ad for phil collins's album of 60s covers

moholy-nagl (history mayne), Sunday, 19 December 2010 21:25 (thirteen years ago) link

all of the electronic-y, semi-interesting non-guitar bits on this record are just kind of pasted on unconvincingly

moholy-nagl (history mayne), Sunday, 19 December 2010 21:27 (thirteen years ago) link

it's 'pleasant enough' and i wouldn't mind/notice it in a social setting, but fourth best album of the decade?

moholy-nagl (history mayne), Sunday, 19 December 2010 21:29 (thirteen years ago) link

country infected - now that is something I can sink my teeth into

more affecting actually. (CaptainLorax), Sunday, 19 December 2010 21:33 (thirteen years ago) link

hoo boy, not sure if we're gonna work out, you and me, wilco

i fear you might break jeff tweedy's heart.

Daniel, Esq., Sunday, 19 December 2010 21:37 (thirteen years ago) link

wilco fans be a hardsonnin lot

No Wicked Heart Shall Prosper.rar (nakhchivan), Sunday, 19 December 2010 21:40 (thirteen years ago) link

six down, like five to go, feel im winning this

agreeably short

moholy-nagl (history mayne), Sunday, 19 December 2010 21:41 (thirteen years ago) link

I Am Trying To Break Your Heart is their staggering career pinnacle. The rest s just nice, occasionally really, really wel put together. Best thing about YHF is Jim O'Rourke.

Captain Ostensible (Scik Mouthy), Sunday, 19 December 2010 21:46 (thirteen years ago) link

who thinks mayne will dig 'poor places', I do

actually I think he will like 'pot kettle black' too
