The whole point about Wilco (as Summerteeth proves beyond all doubt) is that they're not rockist, as opposed to Son Volt. Being There is not rockist, but rather operates to question the foundations of rock myth.

YHF is the only not-horrible album they've made, and that only rises to pleasant and dull.

Best thing about YHF is Jim O'Rourke.
kinda feel like maybe o'rourke's contribution to YHF is exaggerated? afaik he was brought in just to mix the record. so obviously he had a hand in the sound, but maybe not quite as much as people think. the record where he *was* involved throughout was Ghost Is Born, where he produced, and played guitar, piano or bass on pretty much every song.

I mean, maybe that came off as harsh, but when people posting repeated images of Jeff Tweedy is what makes yuo enjoy ilm, maybe its time you took off for 4chan?

Jon - I remember reading that O'Rourke took a lot out of YHF, minimalised it before mixing it. I think that minimalism is a MASSIVE part of the album's success.

That is really true, that minimalism is a huge part of why I love that album so much.
