Trof is an eating and drinking palace in Fallowfield, with a live music lounge. Upstairs is a dark painted vaulted ceilinged roof, where a mostly student aged crowd stood waiting on Thursday, June 20th. Singer Peter Cowap, dressed in skinny jeans, mop hairstyle, and winkle picker boots, grabbed the mic exclaiming that they, Purple Heart Parade, “We’re fucking massive!”

While still singing, Cowap a couple of times lay flat on the floor, crouched, and then wildly thrashed himself about and banged his tambourine on the floor. He is NOT what you’d call a stand behind the mic performer. Wearing a rosary around his neck, at times Cowap was so immersed in the music he seemed removed from the room entirely.

Peter Cowap“LIES and KITES” was a slower psychedelic dream of a song. The band turned their backs on the room, not so as to shut us out, but instead to lose themselves in their sound.

“The Room”, a magnificent bow to Spiritualized, brought the set to a much too early end. People keep on listening, PHP keep on playing.

John Lennon McCullagh was just on Look North! They said "Remember where you saw him first" before he played one of his more political sounding song. Some of the lyrics included "The factories have all closed down" and "The kids are drinking on the street"

Their music demonstrates influences such as Bombay Bicycle Club, The Cure, and Arctic Monkeys, making quite a unique blend of genres.

Drawing their musical influence from indie rock bands such as The Arctic Monkeys, The Courteeners and The Wombats, the trio aim to create a classic indie sound.

Named after a comic strip from the 2000AD series, they draw on influences such as Broken Social Scene and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds to create something which is at once dark, euphoric and uplifting.
By binding together the traditional back-bone of guitar, bass and drums with an unlikely approach to the violin, cello, and piano they have received radio airplay from various BBC 6Music DJs.
Angular stabs of snyths, waves of strings and Stephen Ellis’s almost baritone vocals combine to form a sound that is reminiscent of Leeds post-rockers I Like Trains.

Boss Level Monster draw on influences as diverse as the Mars Volta, Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead and Beck.

With influences as diverse as Johnny Cash, Bob Marley, Simon and Garfunkel, Pink Floyd, The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Aerosmith and Nirvana, The Ram Raid's music is difficult to pigeon-hole, so I asked them straight: "How would you describe your music?"

rly? i associate that look with gormless innocents. they give it a good go but deep down they know they're never gonna make it.

the swagger mentioned above reminds me of late 70s rod stewart - a sort of laddy glammy look that's entirely laughable unless you're rod stewart (and often even then).
