Dirty Hit denying 1975 involvement.
But I was right about Medicine, eh?
― Unsettled defender (ithappens), Friday, 14 November 2014 10:55 (eleven years ago)
ah yeah it sounds just like "girls" lol
― J0rdan S., Friday, 14 November 2014 15:24 (eleven years ago)
this is great tho
― J0rdan S., Friday, 14 November 2014 15:27 (eleven years ago)
this is.... as good as any 1975 song? is that blasphemous?
― J0rdan S., Friday, 14 November 2014 15:36 (eleven years ago)
It's really good, not sure if I like it as much as Heart Out, Robbers or Chocolate, but it's on par with Girls and Settle Down. If 1975 are not involved with this, then at least there's some degree of catching up here. I like the way they're channeling Scritti so much via 1975 it doesn't really sound like Scritti and totally 1975.
After not having cared that much for Take me home or Midnight Memories I suppose I'm mildly pumped up for this one.
― cpl593H, Friday, 14 November 2014 16:17 (eleven years ago)
"Stockholm Syndrome" might be them too, sounds a lot like "Heart Out".
― Tim F, Friday, 14 November 2014 19:45 (eleven years ago)
i can't stop listening to this
― J0rdan S., Friday, 14 November 2014 20:35 (eleven years ago)
The 1975 are absolutely not involved in it in any way, nor with any other track on the record. The song Healy wrote was not used.
― Unsettled defender (ithappens), Friday, 14 November 2014 21:14 (eleven years ago)
wait, is this band good? i assumed they were awful.
― alpine static, Friday, 14 November 2014 22:15 (eleven years ago)
also do they ever NOT sell out a show? i pay attention to concert calendars in four cities around the country and every time they play any of them, they sell out weeks or months in advance.
― alpine static, Friday, 14 November 2014 22:19 (eleven years ago)
read the whole thread!
― no but seriously im not a dick like that (Spottie), Friday, 14 November 2014 22:22 (eleven years ago)
The answers to your questions are related.
― Tim F, Friday, 14 November 2014 22:22 (eleven years ago)
If "change your ticket" is just a rip off then I'm even more impressed.
― Tim F, Friday, 14 November 2014 22:23 (eleven years ago)
xpost i know, but you have to admit there are a lot of sketchy bands with very passionate, young female fanbases out there selling out everywhere they go. it's a thing right now, and i assumed - unfairly, i admit! - that that's what we were dealing with here.
i shall investigate! glad this thread popped up.
― alpine static, Friday, 14 November 2014 22:26 (eleven years ago)
Actually that dynamic is involved as well to be fair.
― Tim F, Friday, 14 November 2014 22:27 (eleven years ago)
Singer Matt Healey is like a bedraggled dog that the fans want to take home and run a bath for.
― Tim F, Friday, 14 November 2014 22:28 (eleven years ago)
I hear some Tears for fears in Stockholm Syndrome too; who would have thought sophistipop would be making a comeback this good.
The last minute or so of Change your ticket, the instrumental part, is a very good Blue Nile via 1975 impression.
― cpl593H, Saturday, 15 November 2014 03:03 (eleven years ago)
tbh I think this song is basically perfect
"watching you get dressed / messes with my head" is such a good opening line
also the simple almost naivety of "it's not good to be all alone"
― J0rdan S., Saturday, 15 November 2014 05:23 (eleven years ago)
YOU SHOULD PROBLEH STAY
― uberweiss, Saturday, 15 November 2014 06:45 (eleven years ago)
i got a ticket for tonight and omg
― emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Thursday, 4 December 2014 23:55 (eleven years ago)
the crowd was awfulll. they played "medicine" for the first time ever i think. it was amazing.
― emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Friday, 5 December 2014 05:28 (eleven years ago)
holding a grudge against that crowd forever for talking full on brutally through "me" "fallingforyou" AND "is there somebody who can watch you"
― emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Friday, 5 December 2014 05:30 (eleven years ago)
How amazing were those songs tho
― Tim F, Friday, 5 December 2014 08:38 (eleven years ago)
they were unbelievable of course
i ended up spending $60 on my ticket and immediately thought "i blame taylor." of course she was there
― emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Friday, 5 December 2014 16:06 (eleven years ago)
WHY DIDN'T THEY PLAY FALLINGFORYOU WHEN I SAW THEM UGH. STILL THE BEST MOMENT OF MY LIFE ANYWAY.
AND YOU WERE IN THE NEAR VICINITY OF THE 1975 AND TAYLOR SWIFT ALL AT ONCE OMG
― uberweiss, Friday, 5 December 2014 16:19 (eleven years ago)
yeah i'm surprised i left unmelted
― emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Friday, 5 December 2014 16:20 (eleven years ago)
"me" was really intense to hear live, briefly enhanced by the person ahead of me being really excited to hear it and describing it to her friend as "kind of a slow jam"
― emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Friday, 5 December 2014 16:44 (eleven years ago)
Yeah the live performance of "Me" really brings out its gothic qualities.
I liked Matt's intro when I saw them: "This song is about me."
― Tim F, Friday, 5 December 2014 21:24 (eleven years ago)
man settle down -> heart out -> pressure is soooo good in this show
― J0rdan S., Saturday, 6 December 2014 03:03 (eleven years ago)
the show from "settle on" is basically untouchable, i loved all the sax parts
― J0rdan S., Saturday, 6 December 2014 05:03 (eleven years ago)
idk if this is coming knowledge but matt says they're recording a new album right now
― J0rdan S., Saturday, 6 December 2014 05:04 (eleven years ago)
for whatever reason one thing i kept thinking during this show is that 1975 are what bloc party could've or should've been... like if they weren't afraid of how good "i remember" was or kept making songs as dope as "flux" (i'm still sour)
― J0rdan S., Saturday, 6 December 2014 05:08 (eleven years ago)
common knowledge **
oh yeah he mentioned working on a new album last night, forgot
it'll be interesting bc most of the songs on the album are older than the songs on the eps
― emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Saturday, 6 December 2014 05:14 (eleven years ago)
So are Healy and Swift an item? can you imagine their respective breakup albums omg
― uxorious gazumping (monotony), Saturday, 6 December 2014 09:32 (eleven years ago)
pretty sure he's not her type
― prolego, Saturday, 6 December 2014 10:04 (eleven years ago)
I love the sax in 1975. That sealed it for me, listening to "Heart Out", then hearing the sax coming in and what were they thinking, these guys have totally lost it, they're not ordinary at all.
― cpl593H, Saturday, 6 December 2014 10:52 (eleven years ago)
xxport all the media reports are suggesting they're heading in that direction. Also she dated John Mayer so all bets are off really.
It def. makes sense to me that stuff like "Haunt // Bed" and "fallingforyou" were written after the majority of the album.
― Tim F, Saturday, 6 December 2014 12:09 (eleven years ago)
Hey guys getting into this late obv, big fan here, etc
― deej loaf (D-40), Saturday, 6 December 2014 16:56 (eleven years ago)

― no but seriously im not a dick like that (Spottie), Saturday, 6 December 2014 17:27 (eleven years ago)
the deluxe version with all the eps is $18 itself. don't know which is cheaper
― emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Saturday, 6 December 2014 17:51 (eleven years ago)
Also: who's written some good shit about this?
― deej loaf (D-40), Saturday, 6 December 2014 18:00 (eleven years ago)
ithappens has written some great stuff about them for the guardian http://www.theguardian.com/music/2013/oct/31/1975-matt-healy-success-is-brittle
― emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Saturday, 6 December 2014 18:20 (eleven years ago)

wtf deej, get and read everything now
More specifically:
1. You really need every single EP track.
2. Brad's piece on 1975/Haim was one of my favourites of last year.
3. This is the first time I've read ithappens' interview though and it's great.
― Tim F, Saturday, 6 December 2014 21:09 (eleven years ago)
matt and taylor are totally a type imo -- i mean... john mayer, harry styles etc
also she's seen them twice on this tour and he's a total rock star on stage
― J0rdan S., Saturday, 6 December 2014 21:17 (eleven years ago)
rooting for them to get together so that it might help 1975 really breakout in the US next album
― J0rdan S., Saturday, 6 December 2014 21:18 (eleven years ago)
Nah cos then it'll cost too much to see them
