There is a part of me that would love to dress up like a shit failed mod for the hilarity factor. Comb over the bald spot, try not to look like a crimewatch photo-fit and wear a completely ill fitting suit for the first time in my life, viola! instant ace face tragedy! Once an uncle of mine who was a survivor of Artane child abuse travelled to Dublin for a witness court appearance, symbolically dressed up as a catholic priest, with dog collar, robes et al.

He is featured in this Guardian article which doesn't really belong on this thread. I'd guess he was having a laugh but some might say* that he is suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.

ah sorry to derail and ask on this light-hearted thread - very interesting article, not really seen anyone try to draw conclusions like that before. my mum is from glin, though i guess your uncle is the man talking about artane.

Moyes Enthusiast (LocalGarda), Friday, 13 February 2015 08:22 (ten years ago)

Yeah that's him, I shouldn't really be posting it on here but just thought it would add a bit of light to the incident I mentioned upthread.

The Crucifixion Of Sean Bean (DJ Mencap), Friday, 6 March 2015 13:27 (ten years ago)

The suspect is described as a white man, aged in his late teens to early 20s

I used to work in regional news about 7/8 years ago and we did a lot of stories that came via the police, about a bookies being robbed or whatever. It was fairly common for the police press release to just say "the suspect is described as a black male". But if it was a white person they'd be wearing "a distinctive orange sports top" or whatever.

Junior Dictionary (LocalGarda), Friday, 6 March 2015 14:23 (ten years ago)

I guess what I'm getting at is, why didn't all those black criminals wear more distinctive clothes?

Junior Dictionary (LocalGarda), Friday, 6 March 2015 14:26 (ten years ago)

Does the phone number warrant inclusion here?

Mark G, Friday, 6 March 2015 15:06 (ten years ago)

you could phone them up and ask them i suppose?

Out of interest I put the number into Whatsapp. I think they're all about 14 years old.
