Spotify surged back into the iPad top 40 download chart on March 31st, right when Tidal’s anti-Spotify invective hit its peak in American media. This had not happened since November 2014.

It looks like Tidal’s attacks on Spotify and Pandora actually managed to increase public awareness of the services, boosting Spotify’s download performance in particular at the end of March.

the thing is that any EXCLUSIVE will not be exclusive for long; unless you have a considerable body of content, putting up a paywall doesn't keep your content in, it keeps your listeners out. Five albums won't save tidal; a year of exclusive genre wide content might but it's hard to view this as a "plan" so much as a series of increasingly desperate moves

Give Jay a two-hourly weekly Bob Dylan Radio Hour type show where there's interaction only with Tidal members. #ArmchairLefsetz

They should have announced some exclusive albums at the press conference - "a new Beyonce album" is way more plausible an incentive for 100k+ people to change streaming services than "FLAC"

Let alone "the opportunity to give jack white - or rather his label - a better royalty"
